I hope I'm not rehashing an old topic but ...

Does anyone know if there is a Yakima or Thule cargo box that will fit the VX factory roof rack?

I know the LoadWarrior baskets will work but I like to keep my snowboards protected from the elements and I really need a place to safely stow my fly rods. Yakima is no help (big surprize) in determining if the Rocketbox or Spacebooster will fit.

Thanks for the help.

afortna..look in thread titled...Looking for... Started on 3-31-05 by Artist4sale. There's a pic of a Thule "placed" on top of my Vcross. It fit just fine on my stock racks when I had them on.

The Yakima Pro series will work. http://yakima.com/home.html

That sounds like the exact problems & concerns I had for my skis/snowboards/cargo. The Yakima guys guaranteed me the clamping system would work for the factory racks, but I couldn't get definitive answers for adjustability (to see if it would hit the antenna). After much calling, measuring & deliberating I bought a Platinum Pro 16S and was very relieved the first time I threw it on top. It fits perfectly, like it was made for the VX. The clamps work perfectly and there's no interference with the antenna or excessive overhang on the front. And it doesn't really look that bad either (kinda pod-ish and black & silver, but so is my VX!!).

I almost went for the Thule Evolution 1600 (looks like what VCrossfan has pictured). I guess that one works too, but I was looking in November.

I could snap some pics & post 'em if you want or shoot me an e-mail if you have other concerns. I know the frustration...

Good luck.

nates33 ... thanks for the info. I wish Yakima could have told me the same thing over the phone. I am guessing my old SpaceCase from my Subaru won't fit, or at least, looking at the crossbar span I think I'm forced to get a new box. I did notice that REI is selling Thules at 20% off so I may head that direction even though I've been supporting Yakima for 15+ years.

Thanks again for all the help everyone!
