Headlight seal adhesive

The rubber seal around one of my headlights keeps coming loose and flapping in the breeze. Anybody know of a good adhesive to apply to keep around the headlight?

Go to an auto parts store and ask for 3M Weather Strip Adhesive (Black). They make it both yellow and black. The black is not as noticable on the headlight. Another one to buy is 3M 4799 adhesive. It is sold through 3M Industrial Distributors. It's the same adhesive as the black weather strip adhesive only under a different part number.

The seal around my headlight is flapping the wind when I am driving. Anyone have suggestions for an adhesive to put it back on. Thanks.

I used plain old clear 100% silicone adhesive/sealant on mine over a yr. ago & they're still holding.Might be easier to find...my $.02.

The 3M stuff is really easy to find also, but it does have the nickname, "gorilla snot" (for the yellow) for a reason.

I used the two sided tape that you can find at HD. It is used for attaching those heat-shrink plastics to the inside of your homes' window frames (for us renters). It's super tacky, and very thin. It comes in a .375" width and is super easy to work with. Just clean the headlight with alcohol before sticking it on. No mess after that.

Good idea on the tape. What you are talking about is or should be an adhesive transfer tape. 3M makes 2 that would be very well suited for that application. One is 3M #950 and the other is 3M #926. Both are 5 mils thick and transparent. The 950 has 75 OZ per inch width of adhesion and the 926 has 150 oz of adhesion per inch width. The 926 would obviously be the better choice. Clean around the headlight with any good solvent that will not attack the polycarbonite headlight plastic (very improtant to avoid crazing or hazing.) Clean the gasket of any residual adhesive. Apply the tape to the gasket, use adequate pressure to insure a good bond to the gasket. Remove the liner and stick the gasket to the headlight applying the tape with good pressure. Happy motoring without the flapping.

same here...only I should be coming up on 2 yrs or better with no issues...I think the back of the tube said it was good for something like 50yrs...lol...guess we'll find out!
