Had the new Yok's 285\60\18 installed Friday and well the good news is they look great, but, they RUB!!!!AAAHHHHHHHHH! I spent months researching and posting attemptingh to avoid the dredded TRIM... In any backing and turning situation the rub the front cladding corners. I did not want to trim my cladding. Discout Tire was ready to start hacking cladding away but I chose to wait and see what to do myself first. I got out the door with all four tres installed adn replacement insurance for 860$.... VX looks so extremely different with these taller and wider tires, I could not get over it.....

You could always do the OME springs in the back and a ball-joint flip with torsion adjust in the front. Get about 1" to 1.5" of lift and save the precious and scarce cladding. You'd keep the big meat and get the attitude in the stance.
Simple and effective. ;)

Joe, if he lifts it, then he'll need BIGGER TIRES! ;Db;

If you can get your hands on a disc grinder, i highly suggest it over a sawzall. A cutoff disc tears through the rubber like butter leaving nice clean cuts, and a grinding disc then cleans up any imperfections. 15 minutes leaves a perfect cut. Of course, when I did mine, I NEEEDED a grinder, cause I had to cut through some metal, too.

I think I used an old jigsaw. It was too easy and came out pretty smooth. It doesn't have to be perfect anyway if you're just trimming down the corners on the insides because you can't see that part without sticking your head inside the wheel wells!

Dont waiste any more time... Grab a box cutter and go to town. You will be done in a few minutes. DO IT! Nobody will know. Dont worry she will not bleed.
Do ya have a WWJD bracelet?, cause if Jesus was a VX'r HE would cut the cladding....seriously, it's so easy & so minor you really need not worry.
I used a Japan saw (cuts on the pull stroke & is VERY sharp)

I agree with Joe.... Work out another solution. Chop/grind/angle grinder/chainsaw/melt it off with your heat vision;however you alter that cladding, and there is no situation that will put it back. I do more resto work than anyone should have to. Nothing (except rust) causes more angst than body work some knucklehead chopped at for some seemingly crazy reason . Lift it a bit. No big deal. Inch an' a half...you are there. I don't know what Andrew Jackson would do if he were a VXer, but I am pretty sure you should do what ever YOU like with your car.

*sigh*
Man.... I told you so. Some do, some dont. Should have come as no surprise one way or the other. Just trim slowly and take your time. It's really no big deal. You should see the trimming I had to do when I mounted mine on the newer rims. It would make you feel a WHOLE LOT better about the little trimming you have to do. ;)

I sawed my cladding down with a custom serated Russian WWII Bayonet. :p
It was all I could find that day.

Here ya go, the only parts you'd need: ARB OME 912 Springs on eBay. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ISUZU-OLD-MAN-EMU-lift-coils-OME-912-ARB-trooper-rodeo_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33582QQitemZ79898 40168QQrdZ1)
The rest is just a few hours labor up front and you'll be golden. :)
