Houston to Austin- Bat Trip

I plan on heading out to Tone's casa sometime mid morning next Saturday (13th) to visit Austin/Dallas friends then set off for the bat sighting pilgrimage. Any Houston folks who wish to caravan out with me let me know and we'll set up a meeting place somewhere on Hwy 290 (breakfast perhaps?).

Also curious what time we are all meeting at Tone's and caravaning to Juilians? Choonks (Ursula) will be staying the night at my house, and we may want to check out the bar scene since we will be so close, if anyone is interested, after we watch the bats.

I plan on leaving 290 & 1960 area around 10 so that will put me at Tone's shortly before 1 (as I drive all the posted speed limits you know). Not sure Cary is gonna be recovered enough from her surgery but we'll see.

We have yet to finalize all the plans other than we need to be at the boat dock in front of the Hyatt on Town Lake @ 7. I do need to confirm the number of people by Thur at the latest to finalize the bat viewing boat.

We also need to know what everyone wants to do, are there any mods that need installing, and everyone's timeframe as some are driving back that nite. My address is on my website if you want to map it (most of you have already been here) and then we can drive out to Julian's together or we can meet there - ya'll tell me.

I'm looking forward to co-host this event with Tone at my house. All vx owners or auto enthusiasts are welcome. I will provide snacks and drinks. My garage will also be open for anyone needing to do mods.

We need to be at Capital Cruises boat dock in front of the Hyatt by 7 Sat. nite. I think we may want to eat at the to floor Hyatt restaurant as well as it has a great view of the city and the bat bridge and the supposedly the best fajitas in town. Jay can't make it.

Wanted to thank Julian and Rhonda, such wonderful hostesses, for having all of us at your home. George, give Cary my best, and so glad you made it up from Houston. Ursula, sorry it did not go as planned, there will be other times, you are tooo funny! Jay, how is your face? Jennifer, I am glad we girls finally out numbered the boys at a meet, now if only Julian would wash his oil off of my truck......:)

The pleasure was all mine - I thoroughly enjoyed my first VX gathering :p As for the reported oil spits from my car... well..... I got the splashing on my VX too - very weird :confused: The only thing I can think of is that it came from the tire dressing that I bathed my tires in the morning of the meet. Mine wiped right off and it smelled like tire dressing.

Sorry George, next time if I knew that you would be right on my a#$% the whole way, I would refrain from using so much tire dressing ;)

:p Julian- I think Tone got splashed with all that flying "pimp ride juice" six cars back. I would have had to back all the way off to Round Rock not to get drenched :jump: . Many thanks to the both of you for all your kindness while I was at your fantastic house. You were GREAT host/hostess. Finally, I appreciate the mod idea for the nerf bars-I just gotta get off my behind and go find the washers now.

Tone- thanks for the company as always my friend and setting the bat deal up. All I had to do was mention I wanted to see the "little devils" come out and you & Lisa made it happen. It was an amazing boat ride.

Ladies- It was cool being outnumbered by you all. I'm sure that was the first time in VX history that the hotties were in greater force than the boys. You all made the day (even Lisa laughing in the Hungarian waiter's face "Doof youz vant a toof go booox"?) A VX meet classic for the ages.
Pity though that a renegade crazed bat boat driver decided to drive the open air Titanic under the world's largest bat toilet. Did it wash off?

I've got to get off my behind too and post some pics from our bat outing - been busy installing the red leather auto shift knob the last couple of evenings. Had to contact Wormgod for some advise but got it done at last - will post pics later.

Let's plan a Lake Charles casino trip in the near future like we had talked about - I'm ready for another meet :thumbup:

Hey you VX enthusiasts! I must say that yes, Julian and Rhonda did a remarkable job hosting this meet! I had a helluva time! I tell you what...I've never driven my Vx as hard as I did trying to keep up with the rest of you guys though - whew! I guess y'all really drive it like y'all stole it, huh?! I bet the next time we see Julian's VX, we won't even recognize it as being a VX! My goodness - I'm still in awe of how much he's done to his ride in such a short time - wow! It's a beauty thought! Lisa, no need to apologize...that only means that I get to see you crazy people again so we can do the mods first thing, right Tone? George you're an excellent leader on the road - couldn't have asked for a better person to do "follow the leader to Austin" with! It was nice meeting Jennifer and her sister and just hanging out with a bunch of wild and crazy VXers! I'd do it again in a heart beat! Looking forward to the Casino trip - that should a hoot! You guys take care until we "meet" again!
