These bars I had custom made locally here in Brisbane Australia, more consistent with what Aussies put on their cars we call em bull or 'roo bars...how much ...these were comparable in cost to those that Tone offers...and short of importing his from the US, I found a local guy here who wasn't scared of the VX..and after crawling under it said ..''its pretty much Rodeo under there..so pick the bar type you want..etc etc"..these guys generally only do the polished alloy or plain black..

DDU,
Very nice!, she scrubs up real good. Like the looks of those bars big time.
I've been toying with the idea of a reciever hitch, just so I could put a step bar on.(yes, the ability to tow would also be nice)
Keep up the good work, Ldub

That looks really sharp! So, the side nerf bars are from a Rodeo? What had to be done to modify them to fit the VX? I have been looking around for a nice fat set like that.

yea that looks really sick. i like that they arent a small diameter like most the bull bars you see on suvs. makes it look more beefy. props to the custom parts

Rodeo fit...I will check with the 'bar' guy as to which model/year range Rodeo the original dry fit we did was from, it was the front bar only.
.. the rest as in the sides and rear bar, I showed him pics of the Westin side steps and the rear hitch..[as i was going to import from Tone]...but I said to him they were stainless and 2 inch, he then showed me what he'd done with bars for the Ford/Mazda tribute and the Rodeo's front bar all in 3 inch, the rear bar is only a step bar as the hitch would have to have been 'engineered design' to meet Aust Design Rules...and as my other 2 4wds have towbars so I said skip it but give me a rear step..
I was worried that he wouldn't do the plastic moulded steps but after seeing the polished checker plate step that he does do..[ more hard wearing, there for the life of the bar, durable, excellent grip, more 'rugged' appeal and highly polished] I couldn't wait, the job took one day... in by 7.30am and out by 5pm ...

I spoke with the guy this morning..Ok the fitment is similar to Rodeo 97 - 00 models ..BUT here in Australia [as he explained] its not a matter of buying a bar off the shelf to fit as the stress loads/engineering requirements for airbag compliance by the bar are particular to each application, ...reading between the lines...you probably could bolt a Rodeo bar on [personally i wouldn't] ..but doing so may void [here anyway] insurance and vehicle warranty, if crashed, and airbag activation may be affected also...perhaps Tone if he's about may want to chime in here as i covered with him airbag compliance etc for his bars..
