OK, i replaced my head unit last week with a blaupunkt that i had lying around (wanted aux inputs for my XM and ipod) but i dont like it so am going to buy a new one that will also play mp3's.

I've noticed that there are quite a few now with mini lcd monitors in the display, many that play dvd's and have an auxillary input that should accept my back up camera.

I've seen one in particular by Dual thats about $250 on ebay with a 2.5" screen, anyone know what they're like? Are they as bad as the pricetag suggests they might be? or any advice on simillar more well known units?

I'm not looking to spend a ton of money!!

Thanks

Pete

If you like your music to sound like music I would stay away from Dual. They sound like crap in my opinion.

Since my CD changer went out yesterday I am also looking. Don't know about Dual quality but did find this at buy.com

Brand new there they are only $259

I agree you should stay away from Dual, and if you search Ebay for JVC KD-AVX1, this is an excellent DVD player which fits into a single bin and I have not read many bad reviews on this and I am actually planning on ordering one myself in the next week or so. It will run you around $400 dollars and then shipping, but you can burn MP3's onto DVD's and store 10x as many songs as on a burned CD. Here is one listing for this item that I like:

Hope this hleps in this case I would say that it is worth the extra money, basically I would not waste any $ on a Dual.

Uuughh, 2x10's in a box with an 470W Amp that cost <$100? That's got to sound horrible when it's cranked up! But if you're happy with it, that's all the matters, right? ;Db;

Never heard of Dual.

Speaking for myself, since I have never heard of it, I would avoid it, heh.

Good to know, think i'll skip the dual, guess the old addage is right...if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is..... really like the look of the jvc though....just have to try and find a better price... :)

dont go dual, they arent very good sounding systems. get like pioneer because they arent terribly expensive but they still sound good. for a sub get a MTX because they sound ok for the price.

Funny, I purchased a PYLE 12' amplified sub tube (supposedly 600w) for $69.00 on ebay. It sounds awesome!!!! I have a pioneer head unit (DEH-P7700MP) which plays mp3's. I cut the lows going to my stock speakers and usually run the sub crossover up to 125Hz. Only problem is that it takes up a little more than half of my trunk.

Should probably go with the "Porsce of Head Units", Alpine. I believe they (and maybe Pioneer) still have a headunit that matches our lighting color scheme, green/amber. I replaced my stock system with an older Alpine head unit and have a matching Graphic EQ in the changer slot. Matches the dash. Looks cool. Sounds great. Since volume/levels are run throught the EQ, I have been able to run my ipod directly through the EQ to the amps.

Just an idea.
