Wheel Center Caps - Removal

Do you have to remove the wheels to get the center caps of, are they held in place by screws or bolts? I dont want to pry from the outside, but want to take them off before getting my tires changed, since the tire places usually drop them and scratch them up. I have the OE 18's.

They are help in place by bolts from the back side. You have to take the wheels off to get to them...

Any sources for replacement caps with different or no designs? I think I saw one VX in the archives with radioactive symbols there. I'd be happy with just black caps to further debage the car.

Same caps but he found/made the inserts that would fit, I just can't remember who...:mad:

Are the centre caps just cosmetic or do they serve a purpose???

I kinda like them without!
