I have a 90' Vehicross here in Ohio. Both my electric windows are messed-up.
I am 3rd owner, so no warrenty(I guess). My independent repairshop quoted me today $500 each to fix. They said they have to get entire window, since
the retainers(small plastic part that attaches to bottom of window) can only
be ordered as part of the window assemply. Anyone know another (and
less costly) alternative! $500 per window is way more than I want to spend.
thanks.

If you do a search on "tab" you will get a number of hits. THis thread might be of some use to you:

Read up on Bulldoggie's posts as he talks about the broken tabs and his repair.

Do yourself a favor and glue them back together yourself. It'll take you a half day of easy work!

Not sure I follow you-I haven't seen the parts yet. Do you mean glue the Retainers
back together?

At the bottom of the window is a plastic tab. When the tab breaks, the expensive solution is to purchase a window as Isuzu does not sell just the tabs. Several members of the site have glued the tabs back in place using various strong glues or epoxies. Fixing the tabs is not the only solution you should look into.. there are the causes that contribute to your problem. Nice thing is that several member's here have taken time and photographs helping to describe their fixes.

Here's a thread where I posted my window fix pics. My tabs weren't broken, though.

search "window fix"
study "Moncha's fix" and "Bart's fix" they work for most VX's. there is also a link to "window Lube" pictures that shows great step by step door panel removal instructions.
Study my fix as it is for extream alignment fixes like yours.
if you click on a users name it gives you the choice of viewing all their Gallery or posts.
if you were closer I would give you a hand.
I'm hopeing to make a manual to simplify info.
GOOD LUCK!

Hi Bulldoggie,
Where do I find "Bart's fix"? I didn't see it in search. Has anyone made metal replacement clips?

there is a place in los angeles that have many car glass repair shops all in a 3 block radius. they use plastic tracks from other vehicle or made one up on the spot and it only cost 35 dollars. this people are quick they will take out your window and fix it in less than 1/2 hour. i still have to use my hand to help it guide up but that is ok.
