View Full Version : Who ordered the Strict9 sliders?

So, who in California ordered the rock sliders from Strict9? Richard brought them over today for a "test fit"! They needed a little tweaking to get the fit just right but looked real nice. Once they do the tweaking they will be by for one more test fit then they should be ready for your enjoyment! They look good! I'll probably be getting some eventually.
Also are you coming here to have them installed (if so let us know and we can do a short trail run to test them out :naughty: ) or are they shipping them out to you? If shipping, they are pretty heavy.
And wouldn't you know it, while they were under there they found that my drivrs side rear link was slightly "reshaped".
I talked briefly to them about a 4 link SAS! Hmmmm! :_drool:

Ah... I believe that would be me.
They are shipping them out to me. Ben said you liked them. Next comes the lift, then tires, skidders, and hopefully my custom bumper; if only they did plate work... Still trying to get someone over to Iron Pig so they can R&D my bumper. But I digress.

They look good and should fit nicely. They needed to tweak them just a bit so they would be just right!

I got them a few weeks ago. Drove around with them for a few days before getting a chance to get them Line-X'ed. Drove around with them in the back for another two weeks before getting them mounted up today!
They turned out great and worth the expense. Here's some pics (forgive the neglected cladding):

I'd like some, too. Preferably by Moab but I don't think that will happen. Called StinkyFab 2x and haven't gotten a call back. Running out of time, so if these fellows at Strict9 already have VX sliders rigged up and ready to go, I'd be more than willing to pony up some $ for a set.

I actually arranged to have them made last summer with Ben. He quoted me $285 to build up a pair like TusconVX's. He was apparently very busy and didn't get to it until recently.
Due to the extended build time he only charged me $250 with no shipping cost (which was worth the wait for me, having zero toy budget) on 03/29.
It cost me $176.88 to have them Line-X'ed here in Placerville on 04/20.
I had them mounted [welded on] by Ballistic Trux (http://www.ballistic-trux.com/contact.html) in Rocklin for $100 on 05/01.
Visit Stric9 Engineering (http://stric9engineering.com) online or email Ben Higuera at benhiguera@hotmail.com. Hopefully he kept his notes so he can fab up another pair for you guys much quicker.

Ben built a jig so future orders should be a breeze! I was the test fit vehicle. Unfortunately our schedules made getting together tough...plus he lives 50+ miles away.

A friend and I made these over a year ago. I apologize for the quality of the pics and all the dirt. I saw the other sliders and wanted to show mine off. I used 1 3/4" pipe, a cheapo pipe bender that I bought at Harbor Freight, some laser cut plate thats often used for catwalks and painted them with some cheapo duplicolor bedliner in a can. I have had them for over a year and no complaints.

Hey TEN36VX, glad that you are happy with the sliders. I dig the Line-X finish you put on them.
Triathlete is correct, we were able to put together a jig from the set we built for TEN36VX. Looking back we should have jigged when we built the first set for TucsonVX, but we didn't know we would have such an interest in them at the time. Use of Triathlete's VX was pivotal to recreation of the second set (local test fit) and the jig. Thanks again to TEN36VX for the patience and Triathlete for the help.
Turnaround time is quick due to the jig. The sliders are meant to be weld on, but we are considering having the option to bolt on. For serious offroad use, we STRONGLY recommend welding. If you're in the Tucson area, we'll weld them up for you.
For more info, please shoot me an email or PM.
PS - Triathlete, whenever you're ready for that 4link SAS, bring it on by!
-Ben
with the purchase - were instructions included for the weld shop, or would any good weld shop just know how these would be attached?

Check with ORI, they do have a Broomfield location. I know Chris & Paula @ Centennial and they are good people, etc...

Hey biju, any good weld shop would know what to do, however we are also going to be including an installation sheet with pictures to clear up any potential questions.

Ben,
I just shot you an email...
I'm ready to move forward with a purchase if we're able to work out the minor details of what I'm looking for.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Those sliders are sweet. I am going to be getting with him about those and some front and rear bumpers that will mount through the cladding and take a real beating! :smack:
Biju...if you haven't already, you might want to contact Ben through his web site since I don't think he cruises this site to often.

Hey Biju, I got your email and replied. Keep your eyes out for it just incase it ends up in the junk folder! I'm looking forward to making another set!
Triathlete, I've been MIA, but I'm back! We've been absolutely slammed with projects, which is great! We just finished doing a truggy conversion on an 83 toyota. Removed the cab and frame from cab back, 4 linked and 16" Fox Airshox in the rear, flat belly conversion with custom skid plate, fuel cell, LED brake lights, headlights, hydro assist steering, put a bunch of DOM tubing on it and mounted 42" IROK tires on our own Flame Beadlock kits. Took us 13 weekends. The truck came in as a complete truck with only a mild lift and 35's. Pic below.
I can build you a set at the same time as Biju's if you would like. Would you like that 4 link SAS with your front and rear bumpers ;) ?

Just waiting on that lottery Ben! As soon as I get some $$$ saved up I'll be giving you a call though.
I don't wanna be the guinea pig, but I'd LOVE to see somebody do that to a VX!!! (pic above). Full cage?... nice.
Ben - I can't wait for the sliders! (oh, I guess I just 'told'. *sigh.) Thanks again.

Thats cool. I like them.
I *think* they're getting closer to finishing the sliders and shipping them to me. I'm really excited...
I see a recommendation for a welder above, but want to shop around for prices. Anybody in the Denver area know of other reliable weld shops?

Strict9 finished my sliders, and shipped them out to me... Here's the result:

They look spectacular. Thanks Strict9 team!!!

Lookin' good Beej!...how ya gonna finish em' ?
BTW, clean your garage...Uugh! :razzgray:
Hmmm... dunno yet. Actually I thought I'd just leave them as is (raw). Although the thought of having them powder coated does sound good.
TucsonVX - your's are silver, did you paint them (spraypaint) or did you have them powder coated?
Tomdietrying - how did you finish yours?
What did you finish yours in, dub?

Those red beadlocks would look sweet on my VX!
We're making these for ANY size rims with a few different styles. They can be a full DIY beadlock kit including inner and out rings with all grade 8 hardware and button head capscrews. Or they can be rock rings, where you just weld the outer to your rim. Aluminum kits are an option. Here are a few examples of the designs, but more to come!

Haha, yeah Biju, clean YOUR garage! That's actually my bad, been too busy building stuff and neglecting the garage!
What did you finish yours in, dub?
-biju.
I wouldn't leavem' raw dude....they'll just rust & get ugly real quick.
If it was me, I'd stay away from anything that doesn't come in a can. (powdercoating)
If you make good use of them, & I know you will...you'll eventually need to "re-adjust" the paint. My point being, rattle can more E-Z than powdercoat.
I finished mine in a coat of primer & a couple coats of spray on bedliner that I found at Mills Fleet/Farm. I like the slight texture it gives them & E-Z touch up is a + too.
Also, remember to douche everything underneath with primer so you don't get the "rusties" where they get zapped to the frame rails. ;) (after the welding's done)
Can't wait to see em' in person when next May FINALLY rolls around. :)
Haha, yeah Biju, clean YOUR garage! That's actually my bad, been too busy building stuff and neglecting the garage!
Sorry Ben...AFAIC, anyone fabbin' up parts for the VX gets a "pass" on any amount of garage grunge. :p
I've heard cleanliness is next to godliness, but IMO, VX mods trumps cleanliness every time!
got the sliders finally put on and coated. thanks to strict9 for the product. thanks to morgan-tec for welding them on....

My friends call it the *parascope*. I call it my vanity mirror. Allows me to make sure I don't have somethin' caught between my teeef as I drive around.
The sliders, tho, are sweet. Beefy, and probably the best mod I've done yet (imo).

Just emailed you about the sliders for my Proton. Thanks again!
I know there's a few 'options' for VX sliders out there on the market now, but I can say the Strict9 sliders I received the first time were quality and BEEFY. Just a thought for anybody considering this mod...
