View Full Version : removing halfmoon- how to?

Any trick to removing the rear halfmoon plastic cover? Seems there's two clips and two bolts on the inside, but that didn't loosen it at all. Some kind of sealant and/or caulk used here? I want to remove mine to install a rearview camera in that area, but obviously don't want to break the plastic halfmoon getting it off.

Yep, mine looked like the picture on that Japanese website. I tried using a heat gun, and that only helped a little. There's some kind of double-sided tape sealing the half moon, and its a booger.

i used a cutter and VERY VERY carefully cut away the sticky tape....

Note the white cord used with somthing like dowel handles to pull through the foam tape. I would use heavy nylon fishing line.
