That really sux! Sorry to hear this :(

I'd start doing a search on here and see what you find. There have been a small handfull of members here that have experienced this problem and have made numerous posts about thier experience and what the final outcome was.

Good luck and I hope this all works out for you :)

I threw a rod in a Vortec 4.3 motor.
The gaping hole in the side of the block gave it away.
This was an extreme case...

Bearing failures have happened, but I haven't heard too many (if any) stories about broken connecting rods.

Sorry to hear that.

Could You answer a couple questions for me? The reason why I ask is because my VX is at the 60k mark and this is a concern to me.
1) How long have you had your VX?
2) How many miles is on your VX?
3) Did you do the 30k and 60k service maintanence?

Thanks for the info and sorry again to hear the news.

Peace.
Tom

Does it knock in idle or only under acceleration?

Is it possible that your timing belt tensioner has come loose? I've heard similar posts on the 4x4wire and wonder if this couldn't be the cause ... plus, it's a much easier fix.

Best o'luck,
