You won't believe how long it took me to find such a useful forum all about the toyota!!! awesome!

My situation:
I plan to remove my completely DEAD double din headunit from my toyota VX 4x4, and replace it with a car pc [w/ an LCD].

And a bigger problem is that my car is in a small place in kenya (east africa) and i'm in the states. So, I'll be moving there in a month and a half, so I hope to have all the right parts, tested and working here, so I can install them there without too much of a problem (hopefully).

So, I don't expect there too be much capabilities in that part of the world for decent fiberglassing! (for the touchscreen)

Majority of them seem to be 7", so my main worry, is how to fix a 7" LCD in a mounting for a double din HU.
WITHOUT worrying about needed fiberglassing.

[Note: By saying no fiberglassing, I mean that I don't want to break/mod the existing bezel. I will be able to fiberglass area's which will not be visible/hidden, like the back of the LCD for mounting?]

Anyone know if I can surely do this project without worrying about fiberglass or modding the bezel?

Any and all help greatly appriciated.
Thanks!

I was told that the double din size is 7" by 4.2", which seems right thinking about the size of the existing lcd....
I'm thinking about adding one of these (will change selection if necessary if any know knows others which will fit easily/better :D)
One's at: http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=25_56&products_id=49

These have stands/or places it can be screwed into.. so i'm not even sure how to exactly get it into the dash!

You may want to check the make of your vx, either you have something besides a vx (vehicross) or someone really messed with you telling you it was a toyota.

And by the way....nice name......NOT!!!

Why not get a single DIN indash flip-up from MP3car and you could have room for a single DIN stereo to run the sound through. And then you wounldn't have to worry about not having a radio and fabing the bezel.
I was going to run with a 7in. Xenarc 700TS but I too didn't want to worry about cutting and fabing anything up. So indash might be just a little more but I think it's worth it.

Just a thought...
