Found this on e-bay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ALUMINUM-ROOF-RACK-LUGGAGE-ESCALADE-NAVIGATOR-EXPLORER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33651QQitemZ80 56179489) and believe that an option for the explore is an avl yakima load warrior -> I figured it sould also fit the vx. It has no brand name but looks like it might be a pretty good part. I'm thinking about buying one but want some feedback.. mostly on looks. I e-mailed the guy for more info like spare tire holder. thanks

I believe one of our members has 1 already, just cant remember who...a good search through the gallery should reveal him though I know I have seen the pic. It is nice looking and if its the same the one in the gallery it looks nice on the vx also.

edit........

Is this it?

Looks like a pretty good knock off of the Thule "Xpedition" which I've had on mine for almost a yr.
The only diff. I can see, is the side rails don't seem to have as much arc as the Thule...the price is def. right. Ck.my gallery 4 pics.

I just found my info. on it. It came from agees.com, it was the larger of the two models (696) & cost $279. no tax, free shipping.

The Thule xPedition comes in two sizes. Ldub and I have the Xpedition 696, which is the larger version. It looks like Zeus may have the small version, the 695, it's hard to tell. I paid $280 for the 696 at GI Goes (Regular price was $350 they regularly have 20% sales).

Ldub and I have ours mounted to the roof racks. It looks like Zeus has it mounted to the roof.

The mounting brackets slide the full length of the basket for infinate mounting positions. The brackets can also be mounted on the inside or outside of the outermost basket rails. But the height is not adjustable. You could put blocks under it to raise it but mine lays right on top the roof rack and is bolted to the roof rack using a T-shaped bolt that slides into the channel where the weather stripping is on the top of the roof rack rail.

Here's a thread with some more roof rack info:

I will try to post pictures of mine tonight.

I thought about mounting it on the bottom side of the cross bars by notching the outermost side pieces to accept the towers & drilling through the cross bar to attach...but soon realized I'm WAY too lazy to do all that for about 1 1/2-2" lower profile.

Different issue / question. What hood center panel mod is that? It looks like the negative pressure heat extraction mod we need -- venturi effect with raised outlet at the rear of the center panel with no scoop is there. How was that done, is it effective? New thread if necessary. Sorry if I am late to the discussion.

Jafo, mounting that might be a problem for me without the original rack
