Thanks. I'll get one of those for my (future) VX. Where's a good place to buy them from? Do you know?

These wheels have never been for sale in the US, the wheels in the pic were bought and shipped from Japan.

For the record, I just ended a fruitless 4 month search for those same wheels.
Rota makes a knockoff version -also unobtainable in the US.
Bogus.
'Cause those wheels rock.

Dang it! Hmmm... I have a friend who has a contact in Rota headquarters (Philippines) I"ll see if they can get me some.
Whats the rota replica name?

RotaUSA was no help to me, even SubyDude couldn't get his hands on them.
I do hear that some have been able to get them shipped direct from the Phillipines -try it out and let us know. I'm on board for a set if you can find them (I've heard about some super bargains coming from there -the shipping usually doubles the cost, but it's still cheaper than a $2400 set of 'JDM' wheels and a 4 month wait).

Rota has a few 6 x139.7 wheels here:

It looks like the Crono clones are gone, but they still have the Compomotive clones (Cosmos). I tried to get these shipped in as well, with no success.

Nah, skip the hassle and cost. Just have a used set of OEM's (16x7 or 18x7) powder-coated in Black.

I've thought about doing this with my H3 wheels, but I must admit I like the look of the chrome on my VX. :bgwb:

x2. I'm a huge fan of chrome wheels and think they look the best on the VX. I realize other people like the blacked-out look, so powder-coating is a great alternative option for them while keeping the proper offset/backspacing advantages of the OEM rims.

Chrome looks great on the lighter colors to make it not look so bottom heavy. But on the darker colors, black wheels look awesome.
I mean c'mon... Check out Rickshaw's Dragon:

At least the VX OEM ones do. How many people have had the chrome peel off and the replacements are expensive as well. Poor quality and I do not think painting them black will help the peeling

OEM 16s on 99 VXs don't peel...

That's my experience, too.
11 years later though, it's not enough to stop me from finally going to a bigger wheel. :bgwb:

That is the first photo of a VX that I ever saw, and it is the photo that made me NEED a VX. When I was looking into aftermarket wheels for my VX, I tried to find the OZ Chronos and apparently they are a JDM wheel that was never sold here. Good luck finding a set!! It would be awesome.

My dad hates black wheels, but I'm not a big fan of chrome, so I'm powder coating my stock 18's black. They are peeling and rusting badly!

This is the first picture I remember seeing of a VX. I thought to myself "Dang, looks good dirty, and just as capable as any Jeep. I'm getting one of those someday!"
They're not chromed.

They're polished aluminium, with a clear coat.

I wound up blasting and painting my set of KMC Thunder wheels which started pitting on me. Had already replaced them on my proton with a new set of chrome 20's w/new tires. Now, the 'thunders' look pretty slick and I switch out one set for the other just for a change of pace every now and then. Kinda fun!

Since you've got two(2) complete sets now, perhaps have one set for the Summer and one set for the Winter (maybe with dedicated "studded" A/T's that are pre-pinned for studs). BV-- do they allow studded tires in your State of Michigan???

As already stated I think it really has to do with the color of the vehicle, and the look desired. But it doesn't matter blacked out or chrome, everything looks better when it is black ;-)
