View Full Version : can you believe they grouped the VX with the Aztec & the Avalanche?!?

Feel free to click on this URL link from acuramdx.org. Some moron actually grouped the VX with the Aztec & Avalanche as to which one was the ugliest! I've always thought MDX owners were posers! What's funny is that Honda used the Rodeo & Trooper to penetrate the SUV market.

thats a pretty old thread.... but honestly, they're jealous.
Not only does the VX have infinitely more style and pizzaz than the MDX, but the VX would woop its ***** on the street and on the trail.
Also one guy said that the vx interior "had no style" or something.
WHAT?!

doesnt seem like the guy had much support in his hate for the vx.. seems like most people who talked about it said they secretly liked it but wouldnt ever have the cajones to buy one themselves
and they left out the pontiac sunfire convertable.... uuuuuuuuugly

Funny that this just came up...
A few guys here at work bust my stones a bunch about my odd/ugly/toy VX, but one in particular leads the charge on the "the VX is ugly" front (of course, he drives an MDX). Well, I stop at Dunky Donuts the other morning, and when I walk out, there is an Aztek parked next to the VX, and all I could think of was how much this guy would have gone on and on about that scene if he'd seen it.
And now this thread pops up...

Heck the MDX is about as stylish as a Tylenol caplet... LOL. Jealousy, plain and simple

Aww, now, I can't ride the MDX tooo much...it's my mom's favorite of all the cars she's ever owned, and she uses the daylights out of it, even a wee bit 'o dirt when she's on walkabout with her dog :-)
On my next visit I'll park the MDX and VX next to each other for a thorough comparison...

I almost joined-up over there a couple of days ago myself…
I even got as far as filling out most of the fields in my membership profile, including using a quote from Dale Carnegie in my signature (the author of the book ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’) - but for some reason or another, the wind died in my sails before I finished the task.
Hell, let all of those plebeian lemmings think whatever they want to…
Besides, everyone knows that the top three ugliest cars of all-time are
(in no particular order)
The 1962 Plymouth Valiant
The 1973 AMC Matador
The 1976 AMC Pacer

A while back I shared a story of a family in a new MB SUV rubbernecking my VX as they drove circles around me on the freeway. I don't think it was because they thought it was ugly.
I don't see any drivers of any type of vehicle lining up to drive (circles) around a Honda/Acura.
Some people think the Volvo is the ultimate vehicle also, but I think a shoe box has more style. Volvo has improved a little though, and they made a nice sports car and sport wagon back in the sixties.
At least the VX looks more like the shoe, and less like the box.

Transio, That IS the Volvo I was refering to, sorry I didn't know the model, it came in a wagon version also, but more like a squared-off hatchback.
The NSX is a great car,(with a great price) and the S2000 is pretty nice also.
The DelSol, for a Civic is a good design, but are they going to make you sprain your neck, to get a better look?
I didn't mean that I wouldn't want to own or drive one.

Hey guys,
If I'm not mistaken, but didn't Honda use an Isuzu Rodeo for their Passport? Doesn't the Acura use an Isuzu engine? The Honda & Acura bigshots must think Isuzu has something to offer. Isuzu doesn't use anything made by Honda, or do they? Just a few observations, but I wasn't going to go to the enemy and speak out of turn. ;)

…The Honda & Acura bigshots must think Isuzu has something to offer.
It wasn’t so much about what Isuzu had to offer as what Honda DIDN’T…
Honda wanted to gain a foothold into the (then) ever-expanding SUV market, in the worst way - however, at the time they had nothing in the pipeline – or even on the drawing board for that matter. --- So they shopped around and struck a deal with Isuzu - a marriage of convenience if you will…
Isuzu profited by a nice increase in overall production numbers, and Honda was able to start cashing-in almost instantly on the skyrocketing SUV sales phenomenon, by offering the Honda Passport (a re-badged Isuzu Rodeo), and the Acura SLX (a re-badged Isuzu Trooper).
…Isuzu doesn't use anything made by Honda, or do they?
Not anymore, but at one point they did…
Part of the deal with Honda included a little bit of reciprocity, wherein Honda supplied their Odyssey mini-vans to Isuzu (who had no mini-van in their line-up), and Isuzu re-badged them and sold them as the Isuzu Oasis… although, they never sold very many of them – rather like the (Trailblazer/Envoy-derived) Ascender’s limp sales figures now.
Doesn't the Acura use an Isuzu engine?
On that one, I honestly don’t know.

Transio, That IS the Volvo I was refering to, sorry I didn't know the model, it came in a wagon version alsoI knew what you meant. ;) I love the P1800. Almost bought one a couple years ago, but I just don't have the time needed to keep a car like that in good condition. Some day! :p The wagon version is the ES. It's cool, too, but I like the fins on the S. :D

That Acura board actually had a "special private club" for owners of one particular color of the MDX! That is the ultimate proof that it is a conformist's car.
Considering that, this site (and the VX) is completely antepodal to the MDX site - they will never find us.

Careful there. Isuzu used the whole freaking Chevy Trailblazer. Now that's bad taste! ;puke2; Everyone has their weaknesses. Selling obviously isn't one of Honda's.

...People either love the VX or hate it. My buddy at work is like "Mr. Bling-Bling". His ideal car is a Caddy or a Lexus (ghack!) and he is only 25!! I'm sure his Lexus is a "pimp" ride but come on! He is still laughing at me for buying a VX. He said (and I quote), "you have the worst taste in cars, man!". I just laugh myself to death because I think the same of him in his LS400.
I will say this tho, the Avalanche and the Aztec are heinous looking, and in no way should the VX ever be compared to either of those monstrosities. But imho, the Scion xB takes the ugly cake...it reminds me of a little kid's first drawing of a car...

I test drove the MDX for my dad. Me driving, Dad as passenger, Salesweasel unstrapped and yapping in the back seat. Dad kept asking me (as speed and twisty bits increased), "your VehiCROSS can handle this?" and "your car could take that turn faster, right?", etc. As I bobbed and weaved I watched the Salesweasel slide back and forth across the slick back seat. Lots of fun. Dad didn't want the MDX after that drive. He's a 911 guy and the body roll combined with the sliding yapping weasel did him in. I think he'd drive a VX if he fit. Wierd entry angle and back issues make it unfriendly.
