I installed a small computer fan into the bottom of the driver's seat.. It's a 12 vlt, 120mm I think, borrowed from my computer. It will just slide right into the notches under the seat if you use 4 screw left seeral turns from being tight. The seat didn't even need to be removed!.. which I found out after unbulting the passenger seat. Anyway, the fan isn't one of the strongest, but it's pretty quiet; I'll try a few different ones and see which is the best. Does anyone know if was intended to send air into the seat or extract?.. mine is sending. Also, I would think there's one more for the back but am not brave enough to completely break the seat down. Let me know

Recaro has a ventilation option on seats from our series, and the fan supplies air rather than extracts. Our seat foam doesn't have the channels and pathways to support it though.

Can you feel any difference with your install?

EDIT: I was mistaken, the Recaros with the ventilation option use the fan for extraction.

I'm sure that there's some stuff in my seat cushion that I'd rather not let escape.

Do you actually feel the air blowing out of your seat..?

Also: Animation of how seat works (http://www.recaro-nao.com/flash/AirVent.html)

JB up there started it last year, and they found out alot about the mystery fan hole and vent on the back of the seats. But it starts out with alot of Cracks and Jokes that keeps you rolling a bit. but ya there you go

I wonder if there is the same provision in the seat back? If anything, it would not draw much air through the non-perforated leather but could draw away moisture from the cusions thus, keeping the seat more comfortable...

KNIGH7S... THANKS for THE ANIMATION!!!!!!!
I suspected that there had to be a fan in the rear of the seat too.. maybe now i might check it out..
As for feeling the air.. I don't feel any air moving.. but then again I probly shouldn't it's leather, I mean the seat is leather. I will have to flip the fan now and cruise around a bit after to see how effective it is.. I have hope but I'm afraid Joe's comment about the absence of a channel might make this worthless.... then again it's only 10 bucks for the bragging rights and most work simply by telling people they do....

There is more than one thread about this.

I called Recaro on this and the heat/ventilation is an open for the Trend model seat, which is what we have. However, when I asked if I could purchase these accessories they told me it was too much work for me to install and that they would only sell it as an installed option on a new seat.

There is a vent in the back of the seat, about half way up before the plastic ends. I assume that the fan, or fan with heater, blows the air up through the bottom of the seat, up, and out the back.

I tried to remove the leather\plastic from the rear of the seat.. and looks like there's a block of styrofoam on the inside of the rear seat blocking off the channel. Also, the fan would have to go in from the front facing back to inside-out of the chair. This is because of a metal rod the connects the release/fold forward levers on either side that woud prevent mounting of a fan- oh and there's likeonly 1/8 of an inch etween the plastick shell and the internals so I believe it was intended for the fan to be inside.. I guess this was the "too much work" they were talking about. I couldn't completely removed the apostery because of time limited, needed to drive my annoyed girlfriend who thinks I'm spending to much time on the truck as opposed to other things. Well, I'll figure it out when I get back from NY next week.
