Was just browsing ipd's web page, (ipd, one of the best, if not the best outfits this side of Sweden for aftermarket performance, suspension what have you, for all things Volvo). Anyway, came across this rear view camera setup they offer for $195.00. As I said, I have never been disappointed with anything they have offered for the past 20 years I have been a customer. Will seriously consider it in the future, espically after backing into something the other day.

I have that exact same camera/monitor which I bought for my VX but never installed, have gotten pretty good at using the mirrors/vaneyes instead. Mine has the camera in a bracket that you attach to your license plate bolts so you don't have to cut any mounting holes for it.
Will sell NIB for $125 + shipping if anyone is interested.

I got the Audiovox mirror/monitor and rear cam set up that used the original factory cam location. It was either $679 or $699 installed (gift, I didn't see the bill.) Installed by Wright's here in Shreveport - super clean install, but the factory mirror couldn't handle the weight. Remove mirror (lose map lights), metal strap mount monitor between the headliner and roof, bingo. And, you gain a little more windshield view area when the mirror moves up next to the roof. Next install I will figure out how to remove the mirror mount wart from the windshield.
Mirror monitor is located exactly where you have always been trained to look when reversing - zero learning curve. You still have a mirror that can be trained on the munchkins in the back seat - angle of the mirror doesn't really hinder your view of the monitor. Have it wired for always on so that the cam is your full-time rear view. Brighter back-up lights are a must with this cam and/or with vaneyes/tinted rear window IMO (big honkin' LED's?).
After the demise of beloved 377, I called Wright's to pull the cam/monitor and XM hookup. Very quick, professional, highly recommended. They will be working on Joe's Dragon once it becomes MY Dragon. Can't wait.

Like most, felt the rearview mirror was pretty useless and blocked to much forward visability, but didn't want to give up the map light option. Here was my fix for this problem since the wiring was already there.

P.S. Be careful removing the mirror 'wart', but if you do get it off without damaging the windshield, please share how you did it, it is about as ugly as a wart on the end of your nose.

Where did you find the map lights? I missed them with the mirror/monitor. I plan to seek professional help for wart removal, btw, how'd you know about my nose?

This looks interesting. I have found now owning a VX that its true, you cant see ***** out of the back. So i definetly need a rear cam setup.

Wow that did look good, even looks almost too inexpensive. I cant believe the last pic. It clips on to the existing mirror? How crappy is that...a simple mount could have made this an excellent product imo.
