OK, I'm toot'n my own horn of sorts...
I just checked the rankings on the GOOGLE (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=vehicross&btnG=Google+Search) search engine. We (VehiCROSS.info) are listed in the second spot! Only to be beat by the VehiCROSS Owners Club Association (VOCA)..
I want to thank all of the members here for our continued success. This won't be the only one. We are continually growing and getting better!

THANK YOU fellow VXer's!!

WTF!
How is it that lame VOCA site ranks over vehicross.info? The total number of posts on that site is only about 200.

Just what is the criteria for the Google ranking? How can we, the 400+ members of this great site, help steer the Google ranking to the true VehiCROSS site.

VOCA has been number one since I started looking for the VX a long time ago, even over Isuzu themselves!.. I believe they have purchaced their spot...
WE earned ours.

You can't buy spots on google. You can buy ads that come up based on search terms, but they are clearly seperated from the real search results.

In fact, the reason they are first is most likely due to google knowing abouty two other other pages that link to them while it knows of zero other pages that link to here.

If you do a search on "link:www.vcrossclub.com" on google you will find the two pages (or really three if you count the dmoz-maintained directory entry). A similar search on "link:www.vehicross.info" brings up nothing.

You should be able to get at least the dmoz directory to list here too.

Thanks WyrreJ,

According to my web link software I have an average of 50-60 different sites (pages) linking to us but most are not pages that get searched over by Google's spider. One is my own www.moncha.com . I'll have to fix that.

Thanks for the tip!

by linking to this site from our sites/home pages. In a nutshell, google rank is determined by the number of other sites linking to any given site, and by the rank of the linking sites.
So, if you have a site/home page, and you know it's crawled by google, add a link to vehicross.info with hyperlink text that includes "vehicross". I've just done it for all VX album descriptions on my site (http://www.yavno.info/gallery/vehicross).
Here's HTML you can use:

Guess that means I actually need to put up some information on a website.
I have one, but right now it's pretty simplistic (http://exodus.realcoders.com).
Now, I need to come up with something to put on it . . . .

So, don't let your "simplictic" web presence get wasted! Put a big fat link to vehicross.info and submit your site to google (http://www.google.com/addurl.html).

Your site, and consiqently the link, whould rank higer if you had some content, but hey, that would probably be too much work. ;)
