Hey you, Vehicross history experts! I have a question for you:
I am from Moscow, Russia, and will be travelling to Chicago in August to get my MBA degree.. I am a big VX fan and would like to buy one in U.S.
At the same time I would like to have an option of taking my baby back to Russia with me when I'm done (summer '08). My problem is that Russia has prohibitive duties for cars which are above 7 years of age, meaning that I will need to buy a VX which was produced not earlier than in September '01 (allow a couple of months for delivery)..

So my question is: when did they stop manifacturing the VXs? Is that realistic to find a car produced after 08/2001?

thanks a lot folks!

Chicago! I live in Chicago, lemmi know when you get here, I'll take you for a ride. Someone on here should know more about manufacturing dates. Interesting because in the US, think a car has to be 25 years old or more to avoid heavy import taxes. I'm no expert, but I think that is how it is.

I know they manufactured VX's in 09/2001 not sure if they made them any later. Good luck finding them. I know if one wrecked one made 09/2001

thanks, SPAZZ. Any other opinions? Please let me know if you have a view on whether VXs have been manifactured after 08/2001 in significant quantities..

nfpgasmask:
thanks, I will arrive in Chicago on the 25th.. Lets meet then. Yeah, Russia still tries to protect domestic manifacturers.. thts why we are still not in WTO..
BTW, I will be studying in UoC and plan to live in Hyde Park area.. some people say its a dangerous district with nothing to do.. What do you think?

thx

Petos,

Stay away from South of Chicago whatever you do / wherever you go. Your VX may not last through your MBA if you park it there :) I don't remember where Hyde Park is :( North of the city is a nice place to be. Khm...try www.autotrader.com while looking for '01 VX and may be you will get lucky. PM me if you have any other Qs.

Take care!

Good luck on your search for a young VX.

Another thing to consider is import tax. I tried to ship my Vehicross to Madeira, PT from US, and after adding it all up it would cost me around $24,000 Euros! Thats $30,700!!!!

Looks like my VX will stay entombed in my under ground garage until I get back in '08. God I miss her... :cryb:

The last time isuzu manufactured the VX was the end of '01, so Sept may have very well been the last month to mass produce them.

Good luck in your search and have fun in Chicago, I love it there!

Mine is a '01 model for sure but was produced September 28 2000. If that helps.

Mine is serial 1379 of the 2000MY built Dec 2000. I don't think they were in production for much longer after that.

Mine is like march or april of 01. You could always send it off to russia before you transfer back! ;)

I'm not sure this helps you. My VX is a 2001, but if I look under the center console storage area there is an inspection sticker that says INSPECTED JULY 27, 2000. Maybe the actual building of the 2001s were actually in 2000. I'm not sure.
Peace.

Thank you for all this info, folks.. things dont look too good for me as I can see.. I am interested in the manifaturing date, if thease bests went out of production in 2000 - I'm in big trouble. I'll keep investigating...
Importing my last VX to Russia cost me c. $12K, but if its above 7 y.o., it will soar to $22K!

transio: you VX is sweet.. good luck with the deal but pls PM me if it doesn't come through...
