Looking to see if anybody knows the max height a battery can be in our stock location?

Note: by largest height I mean a measurement from bottom to the top of the posts.

Currently I have a Yellow Top and from bottom to top it's 8" high. However, there appears to (possibly) be more room when the hood is down.

Thanks for your input.

Bruddah Beej,

If nobody comes up with an answer for you, you could always put a blob of playdoh on top of the batt on all four corners with wax paper on top, then close the hood & see what kind of clearance you end up with...

Be sure to listen carefully for a faint "ohhhhh nooooo" coming from under the hood. ;)

ah, yes... play-doh! why didn't I think of that?... simply brilliant, jeeves.

Thanks dub. Unless somebody beats me to it, I'll report back my findings.

p.s. - I'm trying to see if a Kinetik HC2000 (http://www.kinetikaudio.com/hc2000.asp) will fit... It's 8.8" tall (bottom to top of post).

Optima makes a 1000+ CCA commercial battery that is 9.5" tall that I have in the back of the ML for the 1400 REAL watts sub amp (fused at 120amps).

Mmmmm.... so much power. Sounds good, Tone. I've decided to switch out my Optima for an entire 'system' of Kinetiks. If everything works out as planned I'd like to get one HC1800 for the car, and two HC2400's for the rear. We'll see...

Post pics of the set up in the rear, wouldja?

When the weather improves, I'll measure mine. It's leaving marks in the sound blanket, any taller and it would dent the hood, I'll try to read the group # and repost here soon.
