I owned a VW Jetta 1.8t up until a couple of weeks ago. I have grown accustomed to being able to turn the radio on and off while the car is off and key out of ignition.

Would anyone out there know how to rewire the radio to be able to turn it on with the keys out of ignition in our VX's? Wire Diagram? The whole 9?

Thx in advance.

if youve got an aftermarket radio all you should need to do is switch the red power wire into the head unit so its running off a constant source of power (best would be tapped directly from the battery w/ an inline fuse, theres an open grommet thru the firewall behind the dash to make this easier) or easier, but probably a little more risky would be tapping the yellow wire into the head unit

will be the same with a stock radio too, except i dont know what color the wire you need to get constant power to will be

yea you just need to connect the red to the yellow, just dont let your battery die =)

Hmm, easier than I thought it would be! I just bought myself the JVC KD-HDR1 HD Radio/CD Reciever. I'll try it out.

One last question tho, What amp/type fuse should I use to do that?

Thanks guys!

your yellow should already either have a fuse or be connected to something with a fuse..

yellow could also be orange ( here in Europe)
