well, i got 9 days off work, i decided to spend 3 of them working on the VX. here's what i installed ...

120 sqft of raammat butyl sound deadening
4 yards of ensolite cell foam sound deadening
3 stinger helix interconnects (RCA wires)
100 ft of stinger swt speaker wires
kicker PDK1 0/1 gauge amplifier power kit
wiring for sirius satellite tuner
wiring for remote operated rear door popper

all the head unit, speakers, amps, and subwoofer install work will be done another time. and i still have to install the rear door popper and transmission recalibrator. but i'm spending the second half of my time off in NYC with the girlfriend so that can all wait :)

anyway, here's the pics ... i really like the ensolite foam stuff, worked great on the doors with the plastic for vapor seal. but you just got to love that mess of wires everywhere!

as far as sound goes, i noticed a huge change at highway speeds when the engine is cruising, so my road trips will be much more tolerable, even with my exhaust. however, around town the change isn't huge as the exhaust is still a bit too loud during acceleration. sadly, the exhaust may have to go someday if i find that it detracts too much from my sound system.

NICE. I'm not much into big stereo's but let us/me know how it helps with road noise....Looks Great ! !

Looks like you missed doing the roof.

John C.

you have to look closely, but i did cover the flat roof sections between the cross-bracing. had i used the raammat on the cross-bracing, there may have been unsightly bulging in the roof liner material.

i'll be sure to provide info and pics when system goes in. i'm hoping it happens before the new year.

Just curious...any updates?

I'm thinking of using RaamMat in my VX too. How are you liking it so far?

i don't have any big updates as of yet, since i have only changed out the head unit since installing the raammat. when the rest of the system is finished in the coming months, i'll be documenting and reporting.

i will say that while the raammat certainly helped isolate road noise, i'm afraid i will be replacing the dual glasspack mufflers installed by the previous owner. just too much noise at cruising speed. when the exhaust work is done, i think the audio environment will be excellent, though i don't have a baseline to compare it to with this vehicle.
