Does anyone know if the ABS light issue is covered under warranty? The ABS light goes on and off randomly. I've done a search and it looks like it will cost over a thousand to have that part fixed by the dealer. When I bought my car in 02 I bought an extended warranty. 5yrs / 100k miles $50 deductable. So, my warranty runs out in April of 07. Is this covered by the warranty?

I would think so... check the waranty paperwork.. or call the issuer of the waranty (sic)

Make sure you know what exactly is out in the ABS system. A few that I know of are: A sensor could be out, or the ABS hydraulic module is out or the ABS control component of the ECM isnt working, or just the ABS fuse. You are pretty knowledgeable with the VX so maybe you have it pinned down already. Depending on which part may mean warranty or no warranty.
I know when my hydraulic module went out it was not covered under my Isuzu warranty, your coverage may be different.
ECM and hydraulic module are expensive new but much cheaper used. Car-parts.com

How would I find out what the ABS Light code is? Should I have Pep Boys plug in their hand held and tell me what the code means?

It should produce a code when checked with an ODBII reader. Try Pep Boys and see if it will display a number, then cross-check with your manual.
