Storage compartment? Buttons?

I purchased my first 1999 Vehicross used about 3 years ago. To the left of the steering wheel there are 2 buttons whic look like they aare factory installed, but which do not appear to me to do anything. This is the only vehicross I have been in. now I got a 2001, and there is a storage compartment in that spot. Are these buttons a modification? Any idea what they are for? I'm assuming that the buttons are from a Rodeo and probably were added. For What?

the "fuzzy hole" is stock, buttsons are aftermarket (should be three though?) only way to find out what they are is to push them.. as far as i know all real buttons from isuzu have a label of some kind on them, so they might just be blanks
