    Motorcycle thoughts

The weather has been so uncharacteristically nice around here, I've been thinking about my motorcycle ... and how much work it needs.

    I have a 1981 Kawasaki KZ440. My wife has a Honda Rebel 250.

I'm thinking about getting something newer and more powerful. I really liked riding my father-in-law's Yamaha FJR (sport-touring). He had a VMAX before that, and I really like the looks. A black one would go perfectly with the VX

I want something for commuting in the nicer weather that can also go on long weekend trips semi-comfortably, but not a Goldwing. I really like the idea of a sport-touring, but not sure I want to spend on it.

    What do other VX'ers ride?

I ride a 1991 Honda CBR 600F2. Hoping to buy a new one in the next couple years.

You described the Honda VFR perfectly....you can't beat them.

Any iteration from 1983 to 2007, but my favorites are the 1994-1997.

Well, sitting next to my '01 Ebony VX is my black '06 V-Max. I've had 2 600cc sportbikes, a 1340cc Harley Softail, and a Ducati M900 Monster (gathering dust for now). I can say with no doubt that the V-Max is the most fun, coolest-looking, nastiest-sounding, smoothest-running, and scariest bike I've ever ridden! With a few mods (windscreen, sissy bar, & better seat for touring), this would be the best bike ever. The bike is great around town, and is fine for short trips, but the stock seat isn't too comfy after 3 or 4 hours riding (the Harley was a rolling couch, but could not sate my need for speed). I highly recommend the V-Max, but it is a beast... ride safe!
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself... and zombies.

Mmmmmm nice VMAX. The Hondas look good too The red one would match my current helmet, although I'm not sure that's the best way to pick a bike.

I just purchased an '04 Harley-Davidson Screaming Eagle edition Deuce. It only had 400 miles on it. It has the engine bumped up to the 95 inch (1550 cc) from the factory, and also is fuel injected. It is a blast to ride, and handles MUCH better than my custom built chopper. Nothing rumbles quite like a hog!!!!

This is the '96 Ninja ZX-11D I used to own. It had both power and comfort (with the addition of the Corbin seat and a few go-fast goodies like a stage lll jet-kit, Muzzy exhaust, and different sprockets). I know the ZX-12's ride nice too, and the difference in acceleration compared to the 11 was also impressive. Haven't ridden a 14 yet.

Oh yeah, it’s a nice bike. I learned on it and really like it, but I'm sure you would agree that alot of the newer bikes are gorgeous. I really would like to find a nice used TL1000r, but funds are slim for a while

Try TLZone.net. That's where I am when I'm not hanging out here (the best forum on the planet). I've owned over 20 bikes of all sorts, and my TL1000S is the most fun I've ever had!!!!!!!!!!!! 1000CC V-Twin with 130 horses will keep up with any of the newer stuff...better than inline fours out of the corners IMHO.
