    Muffler = INSTALLED

Well, the muffler has been successfully installed, and I'm very happy with it. The VX now has a much deeper, throaty growl. And it must be my imagination, but the engine SEEMS to have at least a couple more horses now. (I know; wishful thinking.)

The carbon fiber exhaust tip loooks great too! Looks pretty stock next to the Ebony paint.

The throaty growl is so deep, though, that it is causing a loud rattle somewhere underneath. It isn't the muffler; I checked. It's coming from the front half of the undercarriage, and it sounds like it is on the passenger side.

    Any ideas?

It was getting pretty dark by the time I got home, so I couldn't take a good look. When I'm out and about tomorrow maybe I'll take it back by Meineke and have them lift it up. Too dark for photos, too, so I'll get images (and sound) up as soon as possible.

Throaty Growl would go nice with my beefy tires, looking forward to seeing and hearing it this weekend.

    Talking Sound clips

Okay, here is my first attempt at uploading video and audio clips to this website. Please bear with me! I hope it works...

    A couple of notes:

    1) Stock muffler: self-explanatory. This is what a rusty old muffler sounds like on a 1999 Vehicross.

    2) Flowmaster muffler: This is the Off-Road Extreme model from Flowmaster. Ignore the turbine sound at the start...I didn't realize that a jet was flying overhead. Also, listen carefully at 19 seconds and again at just before 30 seconds, and you'll hear the obnoxious rattle. It only happens at one resonance frequency. I must track that down...

Thumbs up PS: Check out the tailpipe!

Also, look carefully at the videos and you'll see the difference between the tiny, rusty, downward-pointed stock tailpipe VS the new, improved, beefier, horizontally-mounted carbon-fiber exhaust tip.

    Sah-WEEEET.

I love your video sounds.... that's just what I'm looking for! Would keeping the stock tip be the same if I don't care about looks? You don't say much about your tip except that it's carbon fiber.... where did you find it? Link? You definitely love it after a month? I think I wanna go for it! I can't take that 'car' sound my VX makes any more, especially after test driving an FJCruiser. It's scary ugly but is fast and sounds cool.

Can we get a sound clip/video?
    Ooh and the pictures!

I have a PV2 sitting here that I have yet to install. I don't know what I want to do?!?!

And yes, how much did the install set you back?

I had an anoying rattle underneath too (ya, ya, Insert "I'm surprised you could hear it..." joke here ). It turned out to be an O2 sensor. It was still working but something was loose inside it. I would suggest driving her up on blocks and pull out the rubber mallet to try and isolate...

    Good luck.

as far as the rattling sound..could it be your heat shields that are on your exhaust pipes near your cats...mine broke off and were hanging on the pipes making a rattling sound...I just scrapped them.

I agree, check your heat shields, I noticed a ratttling at idle on mine when I first got it and one of the heat shields was practically just lying on the exhaust pipe all loose, very easy to fix
