Tranny Filter.Strainer????????????

ok, Daytona Isuzu says that the strainer will not need replaced since it does not filter and is made of a material that when tranny flush occurs will clean. This is great if true since no strainer, gasket or pan has to be removed for a flush and fluid change I am having done as soon as these puzzles are solved. IS THIS ACCURATE INFO? Any pics of this strainer?????????

I went to JiffyLube on Nova to get a tranny flush.. they did this reverse flush that "cleaned" the filter and tranny.. it hasn't stopped leaking since. I'm gonna try and do it myself with Joe's instructions

I dunno about that. When I did my tranny service, I dropped the pan and changed the filter and gasket. I'm sure a simple fluid change will help a lot, but I opted for the extra mile and changed the fluid and filter.

Since the filter in the pan only filters to about 60 microns, I probably wouldn't worry about it if they are doing a back flush. It is a pain in the arse to do it since the crossmember has to be dropped. I strongly recommend an inline tranny filter like the Transprotector which filters MUCH smaller particles - http://epntz-filter.com/sect1b.asp I used it on my VX, my ML55, the GF's VX, and a number of other owners rides. If you want to go the inline tranny filter route then take a good look at the Magnefine product. They claim sub-micron filtration and have been adopted by a rather impressive number of OEM and Fleet operations.
