I was in Utah on my way to Moab. I hit 105 mph when the governer wouldn't let me go any higher. I know a couple of people who have hit 112 mph in their VX when their governer kicked in.
Peace.

Unfortunately the VSS isn't particularly accurate while airborne.
Over 20 years of Isuzu enjoyment...
The VX was never made for speed. Now in my other vehicle I did reach 212.75 MPH over the weekend.

You crazy mofos.
It's easy to get the VX a hair over 90 mph, maybe on a long boring stretch of road in Wyoming. Because you want to get across Wyoming as quickly as possible.
But frankly, the main consideration when driving a VX is not MPH but rather MPG...and above 65 or 70 MPH, your effective MPG drops considerably.
Having said that...back when I was 20, and immortal...I DID get a couple of my RX-7s up around 130 on various stretches of I-5 on the way to LA.
One time my buddy and I were cruising along at around 90 MPH when a couple of cute chicks in a Toyota Supra drove up next to us and yelled "Is that as fast as you can go?!?".
So I did the intelligent thing and raced them. They dropped out at around 115 MPH, so I pulled ahead fo a mile or two...then slowed down so we could both pull off and exchange phone numbers. As I recall, the four of us ended up at some dive bar in Newport Beach a few nights later...

I did quite a bit over 110 indicated, but I don't for a minute believe this speedo is very accurate. 60 indicated, is really"radar"65. I'm sure it gets more wacked the faster you go (stock tires). 110 indicated, felt more like 100 or so...who knows? Never have repeated the stunt because the 'stones scare me at that speed, and the car was never made for that sort of thing, and does not feel that it is entirely comfortable with being treated in such a fashion. High speed is not it's thing, but I've never hit a rev limiter....go figure. Wayne
'bout a hundred for me in the VX.
The fastest I have ever gone was about 145 in my '97 Prelude SH on a farm road in Bourbonnais, IL.
Now zilik, do tell... what were you driving and how do you know your speed with such accuracy? Oh wait, I'll venture a guess that this was at a drag strip.
About 98 MPH at altitude....anything faster feels like it's making the VX work too hard for my liking, since it's my daily driver.
I'm comfortable admitting that I haven't had the VX up to a million miles an hour...I can get my speed kicks elsewhere.
Zilik: That's classic. I'd question your numbers if I didn't know you were airborne!!!

i have hit almost 114 mph in I4 here in orlando, I'm surprise I didn't get pulled over cuz I4 in orlando has cops coming out of every corner. but yeah thats the fastest i have ever had it, but i guess it's also cuz i had some1 in front of me helping me out with the draft, but then i got my *** handed to me when that person took off flying.
Interesting comments. I was curious as I drove out to an old Mining Camp yesterday and hit about 88mph, at which point I did not feel good about pushing my VX faster. Nothing could be worse than breaking down in the middle of Nevada with my wife and dog...not that I felt like the VX couldn't handle it, but I did feel the limits would be pushed a tad if I went any faster.
Also interesting about the MPG at these high speeds. I basically burned half a tank in 2 hours....and at $3.89 a gallon it made an otherwise free little trip cost me about $50.

Here is the stretch of road I was hauling down...
To this old spot...
From Vegas to Cali, I believe I hit 106, but that was as far as I wanted to go with the VX. But maybe if I had an MT intake and exhaust I prolly would have tried more. (I did have an egine detonate on me and threw a rod, literally 15+/- yards infront of me. NOT THE VX)
Others:
I had a 1.8t that i had raced from disney land (i think I-5) to Vegas State Line (Buffilo Bills casino or something like that). Against an SRT4. Was goin about 145 (take in mind we did stop at several rest stops to cool down the turbo/engine.) I ran out of methanol about half way to the first rest stop!
My 1g 4g63 governed out at 147ish @ 7600rpm

I-4 is not only cop ridden, but it is a seriously dangerous highway, especially near Disney with all the tourists...

ive done 115 a few times on HIGHWAY 4 to get to class (final/midterm) feels good up until theres a corner. i have to agree with nfpgaskmask, with gas at around 3.2 bucks a gallon 65 on cruise control is teh way to go.
