    Rear seat removal

Hey all! Just thinkin about removing the rear seat, as I do need the room for stuff. Any issues about rear seat removal? Is it pretty simple to do on my own?

4 bolts is all it takes.. 2 14mm in the front and 2 *10mm in the back of the brackets... It's pretty heavy so be careful getting it out.

when reinstalling, need 2 people to put front bolts back in. The way the spring is it is hard to hold the seat up and put them in.. Wasted about 1/2 hour till swallowed pride and had wife help. 2 minutes later done..

    Boarzhead,
You don't have to remove all the bolts from the floorboard as some other's have done. In fact one guy put up a post asking how to remove a broken off bolt which was apparently broken doing this removal. See my previous post and a pic in my gallery of how I removed mine. Replacement of the rear seat can be done by one person (although the seat is heavy). I did this same procedure on both my prior Troopers, and it's the same on the VX. Rob A.

    Lightbulb Just a thought...might try..?

I was wondering if anyone tried cutting in half the rear seat to just have one seat ..that way you can use the one side for extra long storage...just a thought...I usually never use the rear seats anyways, and if I do, it's usually for just another person..VX are not the most user friendly for the rear passengers...I thought this would be a cool mod as to really make the rear cargo area more flexible in terms of usage..(i.e. paddles, bikes, picture frames..)

The seat isn't so hard to put back in. I hold the seat upright (using the strap to help balance the weight), and put the rear bolts in, then fold the seat down for the front.

Working against the springs is gonna make it more difficult.

I would totally dig on a half seat back there. I don't haul passengers much anyway. Maybe a 3rd recaro or something 3rd party would be easier than trying to cut the stock one in half.

I went and got new longer front (spring hinge) bolts, then stock and it makes it way easier as you can finger tightern the hinge bolts and it is much easier and makes it a one person job-
