    Roof Rack Mod

    My new custom wind faring:

I still need to apply some black textured Rustoleum (there is only a single coat of flat primer on there now) but you get the idea.

I think I am going to need a 2" lift and some beefy M/Ts to complete the whole "Mean Machine" package though.

i bet that adds some wind noise though doesnt it?

maybe try the hammered finish spray on from rustoleum... its pretty sweet stuff, i used it on my tow hooks

THAT'S what you needed to finish off the look!!!

But dare I suggest a rhino horn on the hood insert?

Thanks man. I just bought some of the high heat, textured stuff, but the hammered finish is awesome. I just painted our patio set with that stuff and it looks great.

As far as wind noise, I was just going 60 and didn't notice a difference. I get a lot more noise with the rack off. The stock crossbars create a major whirring sound.

Actually, my friend that fabbed this faring up is going to make another one with tabs to mount four 8" Hellas. That way, depending on what I am doing, all I have to do is change the faring.

I can't wait to get my own metal shop together so I don't have to have my buddy in Chicago doing it for me....even though he is definitely better at it than me.

sweet, yeah i noticed that too, having a basket up there reduced my wind noise from the roof rack significantly

I have thought of putting some more metal spikes through the fog lights on the cladding, but I just can't bring myself to do it. And I love my hood insert. I don't think I could do anything to it....

Another thought was to buy Tone's black safari bar and then weld some "teeth" or other spikes to that. That way, when I run people over they will get stuck so I can drag them until they turn into pulp.

Yeah, I made the 2000 mile drive to Reno from Chicago last October with the whirring noise the whole way....

I have some very solid and very heavy "Fangz" from a tractor attachment. I was thinking about using them as a license plate frame and trying to make them look like they go with the upper fangs to create a very serious underbite!

Here is a link to those connectors I was telling you about.

Remove the rack or the fairing and the wires disconnect themselves. Would be a clean install!
