Thread: Fixing Tiny Paint/Rust Areas

    Question Fixing Tiny Paint/Rust Areas

    Hi,
My front hood has some tiny little spots where the paint came off w/ little rust streaks. They are less than the size of a #2 pencil eraser in size. Do I buy paint from an auto parts store to fix this?

Also the chrom has come off part of the "V" on each of the Vehicross logos. Again, is there a chrome paint or something?

The pic of the hood is in my gallery. I could figure out how to post a pic here using a direct link from my computer. Sorry.

quite a few people have had the paint on the V come off... dont know if anyone has fixed it yet... my solution to the problem was to take all of the lettering off heh... you can order new logos from merlin at st. charles isuzu.. make sure to mention this website and you will get a discount and free shipping.. you can also order touch up paint to match your paint color from him.. but you dont just want to slop it onto your vx.. best thing to do would be to take the touch up paint to a trusted dealer or body shop and they will sand down the area to remove the rust, then touch it up and put clear coat on there to protect the area

also to prevent that from happening in the future consider sending an email to bob at www.magnetbra.com and ordering a bra for the front of your VX they are awesome! try mentioning this site there as well.. he used to offer a $10 discount on the bras for members hehe.. not sure if it was a temporary thing or not... good luck! heres a pic of the bra installed on my VX.. and a pic of a white bra on a white vx like yours

Hey etl, your VX looks hot in that bra. :-)

Seriously, it looks pretty good and well integrated, unlike regular ones. How much was it? Did it come fitted or did you have to fit it yourself? Any color?

My hood and the front edges of the fenders are so shot I want to get it all repainted, but I'd hate to continue to collect pock marks after paying a G to fix it.

came from www.magnetbra.com there is a thread on it... bob who owns the company had a bra that he sent me that wasnt a perfect fit.. after a few adjustments he made a new template that fits perfectly they can be had from his website for $50 + $10 shipping from his site, he was offering a $10 discount for members of the forum, not sure if it still applies or not, but couldnt hurt to ask, just send him an e-mail.. he provides the best customer service ive ever come across

the bras come in black or white (which is slightly whiter than the ironman paint) only, he mentioned they are paintable but some have had issues with the paint shrinking and creating wrinkles here is the thread....

check out the protection the bra offers... this is after about 10-11 hours of offroading through very fine dust and lots of mud.. then about 100 miles on the highway back home... no sign of any penetration of water or dust underneath the bra... i had also had the bra on for about 3 weeks prior to this! awesome product
