    Question Will it work???

I was driving an 01 Rodeo today and notice interesting thing. I always wanted to have one option that VX doesnt have and its delayed windshield wipers by delayed i mean that i can manually put when to wipe for example after 3 sec or after 7 sec. The stock one has a 4 sec delay only. So that rodeo has same thing for turning wipers on and off but it has that regulator when you can set up your own time so i was wondering if its posible to put one of those on VX?

Lol I used to wish the same thing. My Trooper had that as well, VX didnt. I thought about the mod a few times, but after I started down that path, it just didnt seem too important. I decided to spend my time worrying about other quirks like windows not going up, etc. lol Without even looking I know the stalk would be a direct and easy swap. The trick is to figure out where the electronic goodie is that regulates the variable speed control. I doubt it is in the stalk. Hopefully, switching out a wiring loom with the device attached (plug and play) would be all that is necessary. I guess the easy way to figure it out would be to compare wiring diagrams from the VX and either a rodeo/Trooper?

You can buy an after market module for this.

    johnnyapollo, thanks for links.

But im still interesting if that thing from Rodeo will work with VX and it will look much better then install that aftermarket unit. Anyone here can compare the diagrams from VX and Rodeo about that wiper delay please? Because i dont know what to look for.

Those kits I posted have the delay mechanism within the module itself - meaning you wire it inline and it just works. The problem with using something from another vehicle is that there may be additional parts that you don't see that are necessary for it to work - I'm not sure if that's the case with the stem mounted delay, but it could be there's a separate module somewhere in the harness that actually affects the delay and the stem acts more like a switch. It's been my experience in the past that stem mounted controls act in this manner, so replacing with a different stem may entail finding additional parts to make it work - I guess you'll be the first to find out! I would look for one at a junk yard so you don't have a lot of money tied up in the attempt.
