    Question

OK, I just went to Autozone to look what ATF they have there. Just like at Kragen, there was only one Mobile-1 ATF fluid for sale. I asked the dirtbag clerk if this was the only type of Mobile-1 ATF they had, and he said that is the only formula of Mobile-1 ATF they stock...

Back home, I had 2 leftover bottles of ATF that I used for my last trans fluid change in May 2006. So here is a comparison of the two bottles. I am just wondering now if they just changed the bottle or if they stopped selling ATF with Dextron or what...

I'm gonna check Mobile's website now and see if I can get more info...cause I am confused.

The new bottle seems to say it works for our application in a strange and confusing way.

Take it back...get the Dex. Unless you drive hard,or an awful lot, your trans juice is still fine. You've time. The three are a Merc, a Dex, and a universal....I'd like to know the diff. What really hapens if you switch 'em?

Well, that's what I am saying, they don't have the Mobile-1 DEX, jus the "universal" kind. This is at 2 different stores...

Apparently, our tranny fluid has to have a G license number.

Seems the newer fluids seem to cover what came before. Dex V is ok for Dex 3 and so on. At least that is what I've been led to beleive. Like I said, it's all voodoo to me....Other than swapping them out, I don't do autoboxes. The letters are important, but the Mobil1 (and I assume R.P.) seem to cover them all...I'm too lazy to walk out to the garage to read the label.

I don't know that I've ever seen a "G licence" on any tranny juice I've ever used, it's not on the Amsoil that I've been using. Has anyone seen it on Royal Purple or Mobile 1?
Amsoil is a universal ATF like Mobile 1 & covers GM, Ford, Chrysler & most import applications.
I do know that after using Amsoil for 20k in mine, it was spotless inside when I dropped the pan, with very little metal debris on the magnet.

I'd stay away from blends in favor of pure syn.

Well, I think I will go to Summit tomorrow and see what they carry. I know they have the Royal Purple motor oil, so hopefully they will have the trans fluid as well...

I just need to figure out what to get before Saturday.

Exactly, strange and confusing. And look at this:

    http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...on_VI_ATF.aspx

So, would I be better off with this???? It says "It is also for improved performance in 2005 and earlier GM vehicles, wherever DEXRON is specified"

    Any experts out there?

It's all friggin' voodoo. Same claims made on every product in existance. It's a synth blend, suggesting a lower price than the Mobil 1. Personaly, I'd stick to the M1 or RP.

Doesn't every Dexron Mobil1 ATF bottle say that? I just use Royal Purple Max ATF, seems much less confusing.

I've seen G, F, and H designations (and matched them) but only on regular Red juice.
