    side view mirror advice neede

I have been a Vx owner for about four months, and have learned a lot from the site.

Finally have a "challenge" that requires assistance:

Passenger side mirror is kablooey. Every time I try to adjust; it pops out of the frame. It also moves around, (dramatically), when driving. I just found out a new one is $400, and my mechanic can't find a used one. (of course not.....only 4000 VX in US)

If I wanted to change out both, (for a match), will one of the other isuzu models be compatible with VX mirror adjustment?

    Thanks

none of the other isuzu models share a mirror with the vx. the rodeo looks the same but the internals are much different. if you took it to a mechanic i guess you are sure that the glass hasnt just popped out of place?

My mechanic is a golfing buddy, and I don't think he would screw me.....Allegedly, internals are FUBAR, so he is going to secure the mirror, with no auto adjustment capability while I make a decision on a replacement.

Are there replacments internal parts available?

Unfortunately the mirrors are only available as an entire unit. I believe it's due to the intricate mesh of all the pieces inside there (Slash how many mechanics want to fiddle with teeny tiny stuff like that?).

Feel free to PM me for a price and availability quote! I will need your VIN (Just the last 8) to be sure of build date details.

    sideview mirror

my mechanic got creative with some expoxy and the mirror works for now. I got a road trip scheduled for the southern coast of Oregon in a couple of weeks, and that will probably serve as final shakedown on the mirror fix. It is adjustable from the console, and we'll see how long it lasts.

I believe I still have the internals of my factory mirrors in the garage (too cold right now to go look!). If your fix doesn't work, PM or email me and I'll send you mine - just pay for shipping.
