    steering wheel wear?

My steering wheel is starting to wear, just wondering how everyone elses streering wheel is doing. It just feels rough where my hand always sits (I think it's my ring)

Weird, in my experience leather gets slick and glossy where the oil from your hand rubs on it.

My steering wheel started showing wear after about 25k miles. However, it now has over 60k miles and it hasn't really gotten worse.

I have over 65K on mine, the arear where I usualy keep my hand is also smooth and glossy and the rest of the wheel is rough as it was new. No discoloration though which is great

I have 23K miles on mine and I noticed some wear on the top portion of the wheel just the other day, felt like a few cuts or tears.

Mine is pretty tore up. Started to wear right away. But since then it hasn't gotten worse.

I know you're not supposed to treat your steering wheel, but I do it anyways. Makes it slick for a few days, and I don't do it in the winter, but mine has 17k and looks exactly like new. I use meguiar's leather care cleaner and conditioner.
    Stick with what works.

Your not supposed to treat your steering wheel? I have been with Armorall, I like that squeeky clean sound Does it harm it in some way? How? I have 45,000 miles

It says on all the bottles not to treat your steering wheel, as it may cause you to slip.

    Thumbs up

I've got 33k on mine without any apreciable wear. I've been using the Zaino leather conditioner on all the leather parts. I've got a lot of friends in various car clubs that have been using it since it's release, and they all swear by it.

I used to occassionally treat my steering wheel leather, but I doubt that has much to do with how worn down they become. It's probably much more affected by how tight we grip the steering wheel when we're flying down the freeway.

I periodically treat my steering wheel sparingly with Luxol leather cleaner and keep it covered with a leather steering wheel cover that I keep shiny too (but not slick), so it looks great covered or not and will for a long time. Found a steering wheel cover at Pep Boys with stitching very close to the color of the red-orange interior. Looks good.
