    Opinion on tire setup.

    Hey everyone.

Currently I am in the process of purchasing a ebony 1999 VX with stock 16inch rims. I've been digging and searching on the forums, and have found the tires I want. (cant wait to get it!!)

Nitto Terra Grapplers 265/75-16. I also wanted to get some cheap rims for the tires, as they may get damaged :bgwp:

I can pick up the Nitto tires at a local shop.

From what I have read these tires will require minor trimming of the front cladding. Is this correct?
Also, what load rating do I need? I saw someone in a long lost post that said "D" was good.

What is your opinion on these rims

I can get them for 80 bucks a piece. Has anyone purchased these? I guess a rim is a rim right, or is there a width issue I may run into?

    Thanks!

why not just grab a set of stock 16s from an older trooper or rodeo, probably be cheaper and you wont have to worry about fit/offset since they are the same as stock, of course they wont look as nice but if they are just for offroading...

    A little trimming...yes, E-Z

Load range C or D is fine.

NO, a rim is not a rim...offset, center bore diameter, & width are all factors that will have an effect on fitment.

Search "centerbore", "backspacing" & "offset" for more info.

Anyone have any experience with these tires?

I saw them locally on a truck, they looked pretty nice.

No experience, but I like the tread. Probably less noisy than Mud Grapplers.

    Oooooo...James, you're gonna get it...why you, I oughta...

Nope, those are BIG BOY tires that won't fit without SERIOUS mods, (read SAS, at the least).
OK, with a diff. drop, you could prolly make em' fit.

I'm not sure of the exact diameter of 285/60's, but know they're 33" or less.

    The tires listed are 35" & 38" diameter & 12.5 & 15.5 tread width.

There, I didn't razz ya too bad, did I?

LOL, "great longevity" would no longer be on the list of terms that described the front CV's & bearings.
