    VX Lift options Wiki with part numbers.

    I've searched the forums best I could to get the following information. If you have an addition, please post your part, part number, and details regarding the part, and I'll add it to the original list.

    "I installed these on my VX (H1's in front) a couple years back, and while they are an excellent choice for the VX with a very close-to-stock ride, the rears are probably stiffer than they need to be, and a softer one might be appropriate for the VX. After all, these Bilstein models are actually the ones they recommend for the Trooper (they don't have a recommendation for the VX), and the longer Trooper probably carries more weight on the rear axle, requiring a stiffer shock to counteract the additional inertia."

    I ended up going with the Bilstein shocks, and I'm very happy*with my choice. H2s up front and H1s in the rear. I keep a heavy tool box in the rear, and from the front the rear shocks feel great. My rear seat passengers would argue that though... but I don't think anything will feel good to someone sitting directly over the rear axle.

    Awesome-- this should get stickied or something. Took me about 2 weeks of (admittedly lazy) searching to figure out (most) of this. I seem to remember seeing brake lines somewhere....I'll see if I can contribute

    So these Subaru SVX Brake lines are what we need for our VXs?

    And thanks for contributing everyone!! I've made the edits to the main Post adding the adjustable coils.

    are those spring spacers used to get extra lift? And if so are they used with the stock, 912's or either? What I'm seeing is I can get from 0" to 5&1/4" of lift... Am I getting that correct?

    Oh and thanx TR. This is a life saver. I had been browsing this site and the web for all this info for a while and now its all in one place. U r awesome!

    Thanks for the kind words... I needed something for me to have "on file" for reference as I'm starting to order all of the little pieces to build my lift

    As for the adjustable spacers, they should work with Stock springs or 912s, but it'd be best (I'd assume) to use them with 912s, otherwise you won't get more suspension travel, you'll just raise the back end of the VX (clearance only)

    Planetsvx started off just being parts for the Subaru SVX
    But they do have a dedicated page for VX owners and
    custom parts too.
    Those lines are for the Vehicross specifically.

    If you have any questions, give Matt a call, he's very knowlegeable & helpful.

    BTW, I always recommend Indy4x for aftermarket bits.
    Matt is one of very few who are interested in supplying a very small market (Isuzu fanatics) with high quality parts & service.
    You may be able to get this or that for a few dollars less somewhere else, but saving a few bucks in the short term would be short sighted in the long term if this source ever went away...my two cents, Indy4x promo over...

    Adjustable spring spacers are available at speedwaymotors.com. There is 0-2.5" and 3 1/8"-5 1/4" models.

    You should get an extra pair of rubber or urethane coil spring isolators
    to fit between these and your existing coils to prevent any metal on metal wear.

    Kinda on topic...

    I was wondering for those that know. Does the Isuzu coil spring retainers fit on our rigs and would we need it at all? I remember reading a thread awhile back talking about someone always having to pop his springs back into place when his rears over extended... I don't remember if it had anything to do with the VX or if it was even a Trooper or not...

    I don't know, I am using 4x Heavy duty Zip Ties on each spring at the bottom, seems to be working great so far.

    Too bad they don't make on-the-fly adjustable spring spacers. The ones here tell you to get it to the right height and tack weld. What if instead of tack-welding, there was just a cotter pin to hold it in place, like the nut on a wheel bearing, or better yet, servo controlled. As you pull off the asphalt and get on a trail, twist a knob, and the VX rises to the occasion. I'm kind of surprised that after all these years, that a ride height knob isn't standard in serious 4x4 SUV's and PU's by know. Those engineers work so hard to maximize on-road stability and off-road ability at a fixed ride height. Think how much easier it would be to build a cross vehicle if ride-height was on-the-fly adjustable. Plus think of the gas savings.

    Yeah, Rickshaw checked out one of them (and even noted the real height difference was a little different than what wash shown on the box.)
