Zeus, what do you think caused your tie rod to break? The tub didn't look like it would have put to much pressure on it.

I was actually going to start a thread about that - in short, it seems to be a bad idea to disconnect the sway bar on just one side. It needs to be disconnected on both sides and secured in a high position that clears the tires at full steer. The disonnected side of the sway bar seems to have made contact with the tie rod a few times during the attempted climbs (5 attempts before getting out cuz the tires were freshly wet - and remember I am running completely open diffs). I was kind of bouncing a bit mid-climb; so it seems like it bent the rod, weakened it, and it finally broke when I steered hard left after getting out. Luckily, it bent AFTER I got out of the tub!!! There is VIDEO! Clint (CrnCnn) gave me a ride out and to M4O so I could get the tie rod sleeved back together. Bart and Scott Harness were kind enough to truck me back in to the tubs so I could put my VX back together. Linda (Bart's wife), Carrie (sp? - Mrs. CrnCnn), and Megan (Mrs. Ascinder) volunteered to watch my dog during the second trip. And LDUB of course had an extra tie rod for me to use - I only used one castle nut. Thanks guys and gals! I still owe you a couple beers, and Beau $20... Bring on the Elko trip!!!!

Wow, nice pics Robert. Sucks I was too dizzy on Friday for Poison Spider
We just got back to Reno a few hours ago. I don't know where to start with all our pics...
Bart
hey billy, sorry we havent posted more, im sure they are still to come...
i just got home from moab about 15 minutes ago...it was a long week....
so here's the wrap up for me personally..
monday- gold bar rim and gemini bridges
tuesday- seven mile
wednesday- steel bender (barely)(more story to come)
thursday- poison spider
friday- cant remember lol
saturday- klondike bluffs and hells revenge
so here's the real story for me for the week-
on steel bender there is an obstacle called the wall thats about a 5 foot drop off with a sort of bypass thats really tippy....so i dont have skid plates so i opted for the tippy side since i didnt wanna mess up my oil pan or anything like like...
anyhow, i was the guinea pig for the tippy part of the obstacle since i was the first vehicle besides the trail leader to try it....
aparently we picked the wrong line because i ended up sliding sideways off a rock and going up on 2 tires on my way to rolling over...
luckily i wasnt hung over because i let off the brake and steered into the obstacle saving my VX, myself and larry gammon...
once jo gets a chance to load his photo's up then you will be able to see the situation...
it would have been the first serious VX accident in moab hadn't i steered into it and bounced my way out of rolling over.....
everyone doing steel bender that day was shaking for hours afterward because everyone had almost just witnessed a big roll over next to a tall cliff.....
jo has a great photo of my VX with the rear tire about 6 and a half feet off the ground because he snapped perfectly right when i started to roll....
anyhow, thats my story of the week...
Ah, PB! You should have checked the pics/video from 06. Then you would have known to take the wall. The way the wall drops off is no differant from the wall on Gold Bar Rim. No need to worry about your pan...unless all your wheels fell off in the middle of it! The other way you went is WAY tippy. A few went that way in 06 and in the vid you can see us literally hanging from the rear end of the VXs to keep them from going over. With your lift you would have had no problem.
Right way...
Wrong (tippy) way...
I think Zeus will back me up on this one!
