How To Install & Wire Uhaul Hitch

I need to get a hitch installed quick to pick up some jet skis. I plan on buying a hitch (#757235) from Uhaul. But they want an additional $120 to install it. I would rather install it myself to save a few bucks, and I think it just bolts on anyway??? How hard is it to wire, and what supplies do I need? Or should I just let the 'pros' do it...?

    I watched them install Mine.
you have to remove the rear lower cladding and the bolts on the right to the frame can be a pain in the butt.
the wiring is pretty easy.. use push to connect clips that make connections by clamping through the insulation to the wire and the tail lights.. have to remove tail lights for access to the wires for signals and brakes and markers and run the wire down to the receiver
    where the connections will be.

It's actually pretty easy - the wiring can camelback onto your existing wiring - pull off your left tailight and work a coat hanger down below the cladding (it'll slide along the inside of the cladding bumper cover or use a fishtape if you have one of the wire type) - use that to pull the wiring back up - follow the directions for the wiring harness and it's a fairly straight forward job and doesn't require pulling off the rear cladding.

Just to confirm, does the rear cladding need removed to bolt on the hitch??? And, is all the wiring supplies included with the hitch purchase?

The wiring harness is usually extra. For Tone's integrated hitch you'll need to remove the cladding - I'm not sure about some of the other hitches - you may be able to do a bolt-on with some of those. My post above was about the wiring.

On mine the cladding was removed for ease of access.. to bolt on the hitch..
it also made the wiring easy to get to also.. but you still have to loosen the light to get to the wiring connections.. and run the wire down the loom.. on mine anyway.. I don't know how others did it.

Okay, I removed rear cladding and bolted on hitch...fairly easy. I'm not sure what type of hitch wiring harness/kit to buy. Do most just buy a universal kit at Lowes or an auto store???

You'll need the one with a converter, to make the turn signals & brake lights operate on the same circuit.
