Just wanted to say hello again, now that I am back to society after Ike took all of our modern day luxuries from us here in Houston. I left on thurs before the storm and stayed with my sister and her husband out on Lake Travis it took over 4 hours to get from Houston to Austin, it is normally a 2 and a half hour drive or so. I got back 4 days later on Monday the 15th and it was crazy like driving into a scene from a post apocalypse movie. Lines for gas were days long if you could find a rare spot that had electricity and gas. No street lights anywhere, no electricity anywhere, no A/C anywhere. Debris was everywhere, from entire fences torn into the street to stop lights on the ground or hanging in your face to trees crushing houses, it was quite a sight to see. When I finally arrived home, we had to clean out the frig and live with no electricity for an entire week. My neighbor had a generator so we had a fan plugged in at night along with the microwave and tv. Here are some photos from my street, it is good to be back. We are not back to normal by any means, still hardly any street lights stop lights are working and there are still over 800,000 people with no electricity but we are getting there.
