Talking OT: July 4th BANG BANG

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th! Thought I'd post a few pics from my idea of fireworks, check out my July 4th Album for the rest of the photos. Now here's the next best thing to off-roading the VX!

Hey, mount an old .50 cal machine gun on your VX just for show and see how people treat ya in traffic. :-)

Man, I love guns! Looked like a lot of fun! Just shot an MP-5 about a month ago, what a hoot! I was buying guns until I got my VX now I have no extra $ for them anymore. Do you have your Class III permit? If so what all did you have to do?

You have a mini-gun..... you bastard!

Don't have a minigun, although I wouldn't mind having what they cost! LOL! I went with a friend who owns the Beretta 12S and the M-60 among other exotic "toys". The machinegun shoot where the pics were taken (all video captures hence the fuzziness) is held every July 4th at the Hernando Sportsman Club on the west coast of Florida. There were over a hundred shooters with all sorts of firearms historical and modern, heavy and light.

Owning a fully automatic weapon isn't a big deal, just expensive and time consuming. Once you locate a transferable gun you basically send $200 and the paperwork to the BATF and wait. Once approved you get the gun and a lot of responsibility. The fee is a one-time tax and you have to keep your paperwork with the gun at all times. You can't transport or fire the weapon without the form, and you have to be with it. Here's a good ARTICLE on ownership, plus the page has some guns for sale as well.

Interesting note on the minigun: There are only 18 miniguns that are privately owned in the US. I think they start around $250K not to mention feeding their voracious appetite for ammo! The one in the picture fired two short bursts at about 1800 RPM then broke. They guy who owns it, and the APC, replaced it with a German WWII MG-42 for the rest of the shoot. Nice piece but not nearly as impressive as the mini. They drug some old cars down-range and it was a blast watching the .50 cals chewing them up!

If you had some .50 cal APIT ammo that would be some fireworks hehehe

I had no idea the mini's where so rare! or expensive! I saw a replica a while back on auctionarms.com (curious if you could make it work, it said that it spun)

The best part of the Hernando site is the nats with the huge, sharp, teeth. I had red marks for a month or more the last time I was there.
