Well I did say very slightly, not much at all. The 1/2" may be so small it doesn't matter. There has to be some difference.

    I hear ya.

I'm thinking of picking up some NTG's @ 255/60/18. Good price and good looking tire. Also heard from many it has long life.

Remember that the speedo is really just measuring the RPM of the tire & converting that to rate for distance traveled. Likewise, the ODO is just measuring the number of revolutions of the tire & converting it to distance traveled. It all boils down to the circumference of the tire which is directly proportional to the diameter (c=d*pi).

So ... the easiest way to wrap your mind around it is that the % increase you make tire diameter, your speedo & odo will be off by the same % (going from a 30" tire to a 33" tire will throw your guages off by 10%).

As a matter of fact, if you were to calibrate your speedo against a GPS with new tires, then again when the tires are used up, you should see a difference (small but measurable).

um, please don't take any offense, but you've seriously gotta start trying the "search" function...that question is probably either #1 or #2 most common question. There's thread after thread on it. in fact there's one with the exact same words you used in your question..... read up on the topic, it will help you decide how to proceed or what you need to consider in your decision making.

I love Ballistic wheels. I have some Ballistic Wizards for my H3. Just saving up some cash to buy some tires to go with them.

I picked the best pic to add to this thread

Here are the Viscera 777 wheels with 285/50-20 Falken tires mounted on them.

FWIW, these wheels wheren't totally bolt-on. I had to convert the front hub bolts from the allen-cap screw to hex, then grind off nearly half of their head profile for the wheels to hit the backing plate. (Longer studs and spacers would have been another option -- or machine shop to remove about 3/16" from the inside bore depth.)

I also had to modify a bit of the wheel well. A bit of the front well edge was trimmed of and I had to "persuade" one screw on the backside [to intend further via use of a hammer].

These say 31.3" on Falken's website. Kinda hard to see how 33"er's can fit without serious lift. FWIW, I cranked the front up an inch but put it back where it was. I was leaned toward the budget lift (spacers in the rear), but think I like it as-is.

I do really like the big wheel on small truck look. My neighbor thinks it looks like a giant RC car.

    Looks good Vette.

Could you add more info for the rims? I see they're 17" rims from the tire info. Do you have the width and offset?

First of all, I goofed. (I corrected the previous post.)

My vette has 17's. I typed 17 as force of habit! <embarassed>. The VX is fitted with 20"er's now.

These Viscera's are 20x9" with 10mm offset. Here are some additional views if you like. You can probably tell by the shadow, but they sit outboard just a tad. Not very noticable though. Probably is less than 1/2".

    Motometal MO959s

I recently downloaded the. Motometal Pdf catalog. Looking at page 13, the black MO959 rims come in a variety of configurations. This includes rim size, various offsets, and the obvious lug numbers. Looks like the lugs are a no brainer, and i wanted to get 18 inch rims. I had three questions for a nonlifted VX: ( to see if these will these even fit)

    Best width (9 or 10")
Best offset that wont stick out ridiculously far
They didnt list the centers either -i think ours is 100mm

Hate to be the one to puncture (ooh, double word score!) and deflate the mood here, but I was rubber necking how this thread was tracking until it got offset and decided I had to tread into it to steer it back into alignment as a hub of reference before it loses any more traction. Let's keep it rolling, ya nuts.

    Wheels: Ultra Maverick 18x9 6x5.5 +25 offset
    Tires: Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/65R18
Notes: OME 913 and torsion bar crank (pic is pre-HD torsion upgrade)
