There’s just something about the FJs OEM 17in steel wheels. With some flat mat black paint and some nice MTs or some Baja tires it would look so tuff.
Check out these bad boys:
Yeah, that's right! Rollin' Geolanders wrapped around some SWEET 'teens from Isuzu. Sorry, just had to put that up.
I'm with Bart; how come my VX doesn't get that clean. I saw that picture and it looks like the paint is liquid. Nice job!!

I just put those same wheels in 16" on my 91 Trooper. Be aware they have a pretty positive offset. Originally, I put 265/75s on the Trooper and I had rubbing on the frame at full lock. I took off the 265/75s (will be putting them on the VX) and put some 235/85s on the Trooper and I get no rubbing now.
They look classic and nice I think.

Yep that's the kind of look I was going for with these aluminum wheels...
Cooper Zeon LTZ 285-60-18 (31.5" diameter)
KMC Enduro Wheels 18x9 zero offset (I think)
Stock ride height etc. Front bumper needed a good trim and the front wheel liner needed a good trim in back and a BFH pounding but it was easy and looks fine.

I was changing my wheels over from winter (31's) to summer (33's) and happened to have a stock size tire too. So I posted these pictures in case some of you are interested in a side by side comparison.
These are stock for a '99 245/70r16 then Gen Grabbers AT2 265/70r16 and GoodYear MT/R 33/12.5r15
There's no 'I' in denial.
After nearly a year of trying to decide which wheel/tire combo to go with, I settled on keeping the stock rims with Nitto Terra Grappler 285/60-18. For anyone else on the fence, this is by far the best thing I have done for my VX.
