If you have a problem with an ungainly looking rear-end on your VX the problem is you have the stock tires which are too narrow and let the cladding hang over them like flab. If you put some nice wide 285/60/18's on it they will come out to the edges of the truck and make the cladding look like muscle stretched over the wheels instead. My VX looks GREAT from the rear, but I know exactly what you are talking about when I see a stock one.

I guess everyone has their own opinion. Thats no excuse though for being rude, but just think of how mad we get when people ask us if this is a Rav 4 or an Aztek. My God I get soooo heated like dude are you kidding me those things look nothinggggggg like my baby .......

    Angry Rude people

I get mostly positive or just curious comments. One guy told me my Foxfire was ugly so I agreed and told him that my wife's yellow one was cool. End of conversation. He just drove off.

    VXs are magic.

    Nice ride mrtew!!!!

    rude people

i got a note on mine last year that said " i hope you didn't pay too much for this ugly piece of $&it. " pathetic that someone would take time out of their day to hate on a car?!

to make up for it, i've received countless thumbs up, and ear to ear grins. too bad its for the ride and not for me.....

Talking De-Badge and see what happens

Funny thing is, for me the nasty comments went away after I pulled off all reference to ISUZU. De-badging takes away the predudice. Most people love the VX when they have no idea what it is, the comments are polite and curious.

Maybe I'm just not paying attention but I haven't gotten any negative comments to my face. Most of the time I see people trying to speed up and then turn around in their seats to check it out. Sometimes I see people point at it as they show their companions. I've never had anyone say negative things about it where I can hear but I have had some comments about how slick it looks. Most of the time they are asking what it is since mine is debadged as well.

Either way, I don't care. If our VX is considered ugly, so be it. I'd rather be known for driving the ugly car than one of the Stepford cereal boxes you see on the road.

The first one yelled "how much did you pay for that piece of shi$! About 6 blocks later, a couple of good-ole boys in a white 70's bronco yelled "that car is fuc&%ing ugly!

I've seen posts about pepple leaving rude notes on VXs and outright being blasted. It normally comes from guys in trucks.

    Whats the deal, any thoughts?
    F'em. They're stupid.

I have had people say that they dislike the VX before. But most have been genuine. The way that I see it, the VX is a love or hate machine. Some people (most of us) saw and had to have. Some people though that I have talked to can just look at it and say that they don't like the looks at all. They may not know why but they don't. But what other vehicle is the source of so much emotion. 99.9% of cars on the road draw no reaction past indiference.

Never got a negative comment after de-badging

Only get slick ride comments, love your "CAR", where can I get one, IS that custom, is that a new 2003,4,5,6,7,8 keeps going up with the year. polite comments from curious people who really want one.

The key is to de-badge early, like the day you buy it, better yet, make the dealer take them off and detail away the ghosting if any.

I have said it before, the VX is the only reason I bought ISUZU in the first place. The VX lured me away from a VW Passat in 1999, i bought the larger Trooper first , because both VX's on the lot were sold and none were left in the state of MD at the time, and the Trooper was more practical, but I got a VX later anyway. Never paid attention to ISUZU before then, never cared much for the name, it sounds like a sneeze, and the commercials were stupid. But the VX rocked, yanked the badges within the first 3 months of ownership, never had a bad comment since. Found out later after dealing with ISUZU service, where all the hating came from, ISUZU service sucks. Was hopefull ISUZU was on the right track and would follow up with more innovative ideas after the VX, but I think GM said NO. Not sure if it's ISUZU or GM putting it to us, but in any event in the States, ISUZU is considered by many 3rd rate.

Glad I got my VX, makes me happy and that matters most

This goes back to my original statement that most people, in general, have bad taste. I would say no taste, but I'm not sure if that is possible. I think it goes from good, to bland, to bad. Someone who thinks the VX is related to an Aztek has no right to even comment. I don't care if they spend the time to really look at both, THEN make the comment if they truely feel that way... but obviously comments like this just come from the dumb folk with bad taste that have nothing better to say in general.

Misinformed and bad taste... it's a bad combo.

I have to agree with mrtew on the stock vs custom appearance. I used to LOATHE the way mine looked until I finally got some new shoes on her. And once debadged and with the LED tail lights in, I think she is as satin and as mean as we all thought KITT was, back in the day. I only wish I could see my VX riding along the freeway at 65 from another's eyes, so I could see just how nasty a hooked up VX can look when you arent the one piloting her.

And those behind her will see only this....

I just recently started working at PEPBOYS and can't beleive the amount of comments I get and people asking me about my VX. Just yesterday while I was on a smoke break with some friends a couple drove up in a Nissan Xterra and I over heard the guy tell his girl that it was ugly and that I'm probably some 20 yr old who had mommy and daddy bought for me as a graduation present. Well aas I was gonna make a comment the girl come3s out and says well atleast it's different and he's not driving the same thing every one else is including soccer moms. As their getting closer my manger comes out and asks me to show off my VX to some customers that went inside asking around who owns the VX cuz they wanted to see the interior and ask more questions about it.
I told him sure no problem. As I turned off the alarm the couple looks back the guy looks away and the girl smiles and winks at me. I smiled, winked back and started to laugh. I diffently agree with mrtew 100% bigger tires does look better on the VX. You either love the VX or you don't. Variaty is the spice of life.

    Talking debadge

Im w/tha debadged theory Ive yet to recieve negative feedback but for those of you that have. Think of everyone that has broken there necks to check out your car....realize that as a compliment, and Im certain the ratio of compliments to negative comments is much greater.....x

    I think

Worst remark came from my best friend. Someone asked what I was driving and before I could answer he said Rav4 . The best was yesterday when picking up my sister from the Jeep dealership. ALL the salespeople came ouside and started staring at the truck. One guy comes forward and asked to look inside and starts asking a million questions.

    Still grinning.......... :yesg:
