    Replacing Starter

After searching, didnt see much on anyone R&R their starter.
So I thought Id post up something with pics.
First of all, most starters in any car may last about 80k or so.
Theres an easy way to check to see if your starter is bad
by bypassing the starter relay under the hood.
Once you decide its bad, grab some tools and crawl under
the Vx. Its necessary to drop part of the exhaust.
So youll need to disconnect both rear flanges halfway
back, and then the 3 bolts where the pipe on the dr side
bolts to the manifold. Think youll need a few 14mm wrenches and
a 17mm deep socket, long 18" roughly extension and think a
    12mm for the starter itself.
Disconnect the + battery cable from the battery first.
    Unbolt the exhaust (see pics)
then you can ubolt the starter and disconnect the battery cable
and remove the starter towards the rear of the Vx.
I got mine from BAP Auto, complete new starter and selenoid.
Funny thing is, it didnt look like the one I took out, it was set
up a bit different, but it did fit right into place and works fine.
Must of been redesigned over the years, maybe a good thing.
Once out, put your new one in and install the cable.
When putting the exhaust back together, I suggest buying new
bolts and gaskets from the dealer (total cost about $20)
Once all bolted back, hit the key and your Vx is back on the rd.
Total time takes about an hour to 2 tops depending on how rusty
your bolts are. Mine being here in Az werent too bad.

Very cool! Thanks for the posting your progress.
