PICS> T-Bird Hood Scoop Done > Headlights Cleared > Driving Lights > DVD Player

Ok I finally finished some of my projects.
    • The Thunderbird hood scoop finished.
    • Installed new driving lights.
    • Installed an indash dvd player.
    • Cleared them pesky headlights and added them 90/100 watt bulbs.

Hood scoop looks OUTSTANDING! I'll bet you could sell a couple of those here, doncha know. Very tastefully done - subtle but "assertive"...

    Thank You...

This is how we did the hood scoop.

Lucky me, we had a trashed Thunderbird hood at my work.
On the VX I laid paper over the entire hood and taped down the edges.
Then I cut out where the insert would be,
and threw away the center of the paper that was the insert.
Then I untapped the template, then made some center points on the thunderbird. Taped the template on the thunderbird hood, marked the lines to be cut, Then using a sawzall I cut out the template lines leaving about an inch of play all away around. The new scoop was lifted and separated from the original hood, so now it is a small thin hood.(thunder bird hood has a top and bottom layer sandwiched together) We then used an orbital sander around the edges until it fit. It sands quick. The VX hood was cut where the Thunderbird scoop needed to be recessed. Then we lifted the hood with the new insert in place and marked the hood for the location of the new bolts that use the stock nuts. We used some kick butt two part epoxy to mount the bolts. Sand, primer, fake carbon dip, clear coat. Done.

    The Headlights:
My headlights looked hazed all the time, like someone smeared mud on them.
I sanded them with 800 and then 1200.
Sprayed them with 3m plastic primer.
Then two heavy coats of two part automotive clear coat.
    Wow, this did very good!
They don't need to be removed to fix, but I was installing driving lights.

I have to second this. Absolutely the best hood scoop EVER on a VX.

Also, the world's tiniest DVD screen! :gring:

You'd better start fabbing up some hood scoops for the rest of us peons.

Looks like I will be painting my VX new Viper Green.
I'll do all the labor, and I might get some free paint!(fingers crossed)

Thunderbird hood years 2002 to 2005.

Here is the progress of the new mirror installation.
    The VX is kinda dirty.
