    AutoCross Location

I personally do not autocross, but I am an avid spectator. My friend's autocross group here in Cincinnati is looking for a new place to race.

For those of you not familiar with autocross, its essentially a small course race in a large parking lot with a lot of back and forth cornering.

The group that races here in Cincinnati is rather large with cars of all shapes and sizes. From Corvettes and Lotus' to modified go-karts and minivans. Its quite a site.

If anyone knows an "admin" of a parking lot area that is available/empty on Sundays, please let me know. Preferably in the Cincinnati area.

    Thanks!

Nothing directly local to Cinci, but, AutoX around the MD/DC/VA area is plentiful. Some tracks like Summit (W.VA - http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/ ) are opening new tracks this spring even. VIR ( http://www.virclub.com/ ) is a bit further out, but is one of the premiere tracks around here. Some dealers around here offer a fair share of lot usage and sponsorship, but that has dwindled somewhat.

RallyX is making a bigger footprint in this area now too. The fever is spreading further south from PA now and there is rumor of new tracks/courses opening up to add to the few there already are.

Oh, if you want to find "lots" available for "rent" (nothing is free around here) for these activities, your best bet is looking at shipping yards and loading zones/docks. Over the past years here, we found that just about ALL lot owners finally put us out, mostly because of liability reasons and the fact that their lots always looked like a rubbery mess, heh. Last summer there was a very cool spot in Baltimore, right on the water that I ran my WRX at. A beautiful summer morning right on the harbor with spooling turbos and cones flying everywhere, heh.
