x2. Very impressive L-Bud. Your VX looks awesome. I just love VX's that don't have those huge ugly gaps in the fender-wells. Well done, my friend.

    Looking good Larry.

Now, you need to sweet talk Sue into finding you a supersized rack to carry your supersized spare.

And no more pictures of my long lost brudder either.

At least PK said YOU needed a supersized rack.....

If his monster tire doesn't fit in the 696, my guess....Dub will find a way to cut his rails and lengthen it with some metal insert that he'll fab up! I know you're creative enough to come up with something.

Sounds like KAT knows a thing or two about what to do if you need to supersize your rack...just sayin!

Needed a place for the Thule 696

So a trip to Home Depot gave me this for $30...

I can remove the OEM roof rack with the 696 still attached and hang it in the garage. I mounted it so that I don't need help to make this happen. The large basket hooks give good support. It's made by Rubbermaid. Washing the VX will be much easier now and it only takes about 5 minutes to remove or install. Love it.

Very efficient! But I can't quite tell how those 2 arms are holding the rack? I see part of something silver in the close up pic..but that appears to be holding the black hook to the horizontal bar on wall.
It doesn't appear any of the Thule rails are over the big black hook, so what's holding it up?

    drivers door panel = DONE

Also added alarm LEDs on each door panel like VW/Audi do to make the alarm more visible (wow its tough to type VW.. i typed VX like 5 times before muscle memory let go!)

I was a magician in the past....no really here is a better pic. The arms are coated in a 'felt' type of material that prevents scratching.

Oh Oh Oh, I see, I forgot, and couldn't see the outer most bar, I only saw slats. Very cool mod! Gotta do that for my Yakima....
