I'm a new Astral owner. I was going to post a pic but I cannot figure out how. I feel like an idiot....
1999 VIN 0210
137k on the clock, but in amazing shape
Taking her up in to the mountains north of Silverthorne, Colorado this weekend! Dirt and mud incoming
Have a great weekend all!
(pics in the gallery, hopefully I'll have some naugh...err...dirty pics come Monday)
Edit: a few pics from the weekend...only a little bit of rugged trail to navigate to a hiking trailhead (Elliot Ridge), but the VX performed admirably, and the kids in the backseat christened it the "fun truck" with my 6 year old niece proclaiming that my VX "its like it is made to do this" as we crawled and bounced over the rocks and gulleys ;-) Sharp girl my niece.
At the trailhead
Roughing it at the cabin
One sharp looking ride
My dog Q glad to be able to roam the mountainside

116,000 Miles
Welcome, thats a cleaning looking VX!
Thanks pic was taken just after a fresh waxing.
Best color. No arguments.
I got my VX through eBay. It had 94,000 miles on it and got it for $4,200 and then it cost about $800 to ship from Ohio. Since I got it a couple of weeks I have been going through it and getting it back into "original" shape. So far I have done the following:
The right door was binding on the fender, I took off the cladding and found a minor crunch on the fender. I straightened out and got the door to open freely. I have started to renew the cladding using a heat gun. I am part of a thread concerning that subject. To get the emission check done, I had to have a new muffler and tail pipe installed. I drove into a small shop near my house and they had the new muffler and tail pipe install in less than a half hour. The front cladding had an "L" shaped cut in it, I am guessing that happened when the fender got crushed in. I plastic welded it from behind and am using a product made to fill in dings and dents in plastic bumper covers. I am going to have to spray the front cladding with bumper paint to even out the color from where I repaird it. I just got the brakes done. That was more expensive then I had guessed it would be but the rotors could not be resurfaced and the calipers where not in real good shape. There was also a seal leaking on the rear axle. There is a fair amount of rust on the front suspension parts so I am hoping to take them off this weekend and sand blast them clean. When I have the front end apart, I will probably put new upper and lower ball joints on. New bushings will go on the control arms and I will probably replace the bushing on the sway bars as well. I have strated to repaint the hood insert but found other things to do and haven't finished it. The VX was in Mississippi, I think it was, for a good part of its life hence the rust issues. Once I get the front suspension cleaned up the rest of the rust on the frame is mostly just surface rust. The front reinforcement that was left would fit into a shoe box when I took it off. I have a reconditioned one ordered and will let everyone if it actually gets here. Inspite of everything else the interior is in pretty good shape. I need to clean the carpets and clean up the interior but that is about it really needs for now.

i technically have an astral silver for the time being. but in the next few weeks all cladding, lights, mirrors, rack, will be removed. cladding mirrors, and rack and spoiler will be rhinolined. lights will be sanded and buffed til they are clear and visible again, and the rest of the vx will be getting a paint job too.
