Playing in the sand, Schwana Washington

Rick Baxman did the invite, and I said yes to his annual pilgrimage to the sands of Schwana Washington. My first time offroading the VX and first in the sand since 1963 in a friends 48 willy's, boy what a difference. Made many mistakes, but was getting the hang of it (I thought) till the end when I ended up in a pile of magnetic rocks. Look at the tracks to the left, see, got pulled right into it, well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Had to get it turned 180 and be winched out, Thanks Mike. The photo's don't even show the angles we were dealing with in this soft sand. They all went onto butt-pucker hill, I had had enough fun for one day. Thanks again Rick and never, ever, go anywhere without Mike.

Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace... Never mind "Paris to Dakar", the VehiCROSS looks ready for the Martian desert.

Pressure wash her well. Whenever I take mine out on the beach, she gets sand all up in her panties and she gets all irritated at me.

roger that. figure the 160 plus mile drive home would of shaken most of it out, plus, it is beach sand without the salt

It was a great time for all. 2 Toyota trucks and 2 VXs. The weather was perfect and the sand was... uh, gritty. I had just clawed my way to the top dune when Rowhard decided to join me. He didn't see a 60 degree drop-off just in front of him as he was powering up the last few yards, but managed to stop just before going over. Unfortunately that meant backing down a vey long, steep, and off-camber dune. He crab-walked right into a hole (attracted by those magnetic rocks). We shoveled for 20 minuted to build a ramp out, but still needed the winch. Once we were done there, we took the trai to the top of the 2400' mountain to enoy the view.

because he didn't get stuck,.... well, he did hi-center it once, something about his feet getting confused and hitting the wrong pedal

As we all know "He who has not been stuck has not been off-road". It's just so great when the 'other guy' does it. Wish I could have been there for you in your time of need John to throw you a cheap shot... I mean a tow line.

If only that were true. My VX has really only been offroad at the beach, YET, it has been stuck. Embarrassing too. In the street, at the foot of my driveway, in about 2' of snow. Some monster dually came and pulled me out so the plow could do his job, haha. So much for Yokohama AVS tires in the winter.

I remember, after the guy in the dually got me back in shape again, he said I should return that little truck to my girlfriend now. He got 2 points for that one....
